I did some research and there were dozens of collisions on both sides! Take a look at this link http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/USN-Chron/USN-Chron-1942.html If you search for 'collisions' you'll find plenty! January 15, Thu. Atlantic Storm with wind velocity of more than 80 knots and gusts of over 100 knots hits Hvalfjordur, Iceland; heavy cruiser Wichita (CA-45) is damaged in collisions with U.S. freighter West Nohno and British trawler HMS Ebor Wyke, and in grounding near Hrafneyri light. January 22, Thu. Destroyers Gridley (DD-380) and Fanning (DD-385) are damaged in collision 150 miles northwest of American Samoa as TF 8 proceeds toward the Marshalls and Gilberts. February 7, Sat. Japanese submarines RO-61 and RO-62 are damaged in collision, Kwajalein atoll. October 27, Tue. Battleship South Dakota (BB-57) and destroyer Mahan (DD-364) are damaged in collision while retiring from the Battle of Santa Cruz. So to make UV and perhaps WITP - even more realistic I'd like to see it incorporated. A collision claxon could ring and a ship damage report would be logged. Several factors could count for/against collision: Weather TF commander Ship captains State of ship Under attack
