Fonz -> [DONE] New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/1/2013 6:59:20 PM)

Pushing the event engine some more :)

Netherlands vs. Venezuela

Date/Time: September 21st, 2012 / 06:00:00 Zulu

Location: Caribbean Sea

Playable Side: Netherlands

Background (fictional)

A month ago Venezuelan armed forces attacked Dutch naval installations on Curaçao and Aruba. After the attacks the islands were placed under Venezuelan "stewardship" and a token defense force was transferred from the Venezuelan mainland. The Dutch government is unwilling to wait for consensus in the international community and has initiated operations to retake the islands and so honoring their defense agreements with both Curaçao and Aruba.

Naval forces have been transferred to the Caribbean along with airforce elements. As theater commander you are responsible for an amphibious assault on Curaçao and establishing a forward operating base on the island.

5/11 - New version
- Extra F-16 loadout options
- Fixed TOW on Mech units

12/11 - Updated to B460 and DB3000-B399

Nice setup for a scenario! Havent started actually playing yet but on intial look first remark is: the available weapons for the F-16s seem a bit unrealistic. I would expect GBU-31s and 38s to be the bulk of the weapons, with GBU-12s and 10s backing up. GBU-24s and dumb bombs however are highly unlikely to be used.

Fonz -> RE: New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/1/2013 8:35:21 PM)

I was looking for loadouts that could be used against surface ships and mobile land units since you are actually discouraged from attacking targets on Venezuelan soil. The GBU-31/38 don't qualify as far as I can see.

But some more flexibility in loadouts is definitely a good thing, I'll look at that.

Tomcat84 -> RE: New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/1/2013 9:10:54 PM)

Good point, didn't think about that. Still, I would definitely add Gbu 10s and 12s then

GBOATZ -> RE: New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/2/2013 11:53:20 PM)

Great Scenario and even better for a beginner as it only involved one unit and being able to parse out your ammo! Almost got killed at the very end just before making it to safety! You are one sneaky guy! 8-D

Your scenarios are top notch! Thanks [:)][:)][:)]

MR_BURNS2 -> RE: New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/3/2013 8:49:04 AM)

Well done, best scenario i played so far!

Could it be that the submarine cant engage ships until some event fires? I tried to attack a OPV but it didn't work.
I was able to engage the venezuelan troop transports later though.

How much time do we have for the mission? It says 2d to go, but after 24 hours my game stopped and then a error message appeared, i made a bug report here.

Fonz -> RE: New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/3/2013 12:49:12 PM)

Thanks! You should be able to engage at will, there is no event preventing you from attacking the OPVs.

You have 48hrs to complete. As for the save you posted, I'm running build 451, and I can load and continue and save w/o error, strange...

IvanJoukov -> RE: New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/3/2013 11:06:26 PM)

I play Command since the first days but I created an account here just to let you know how good your scenarios are. We already were a bunch in love with the prelude, the sequel is awesome and by far the best scenario I played, perfect size and difficulty. Unfortunately my computer crashed, I was the king of seas but made poor use of my air force, I'll try to do it again :)

msc -> Error messages RE: New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/4/2013 6:52:55 PM)

I love the Scenario! Hope to see more of them soon. And it's running very smooth, no crashes so far.

Well, I got three error Messages regarding the Mission Editor, no big Problem, I could contiue the game. Perhaps you can take a look on them?
I don't know if the Errors come from Scenario Setup or the program code, so I hope one of the devs can also take a look on this?

Error Messages and save-file ar in the attached zip-file.
*1st Error message: tried to delete a Mission in the Mission Editor, this message popped up. I could continue the game and Mission was deleted.

*2nd Error message: I scrolled through the Mission loadouts of the F16 and this message showed up. I could continue the game.

*3rd Error message: when starting the Mission Editor from the menu the error Messages showed up. It was at the end of the game, when some aircraft on the missions where shot down. So I think the Editor could not find the aircraft it should Display on the Units-window. It was possible to continue the game.

*The 1st MechInfPlt is equipped with TOW-weapons. But it was not possible to attack the enemy with These weapons, neither in Auto-attack F1, nor in Manual attak Shift-F1. Please take a look in the autosave-file. Perhaps I am to stupid to use the weapon in the correct way or it is not suitable for the target? Or is it some Problem with the database?

Fonz -> RE: Error messages RE: New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/5/2013 6:30:02 PM)

Thanks all!

I have attached a new version to the original post that

- adds some more air to ground loadouts for your F16s
- fixes the TOW missiles not firing on the Mech Inf units -> my bad
- includes an ini file for rebuild if needed

Now get those Flankers!

Jorm -> RE: Error messages RE: New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/7/2013 8:00:44 PM)

huzahhh

my sub got two frigates this time and i saturated the flankers rather then send my AAW patrol in penny packets.
With the very low hit final probablity of the 120's on the F-16s , this worked well.
I really liked the use of troops but that mobile SAM was a nasty piece of work..

great work i look forward to more of your offerings

Jean Bart -> RE: [DONE] New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/12/2013 6:33:19 AM)

Hi

I played first scenario 'Prelude' with great pleasure [&o], and was really looking forward this new volume
I have downloaded it (v.012), and unziped it scenraio folder
When playing CMNAO, I can see and open in the list 'Showdown 2012', but nothing happens after hitting 'load selected'.

I saw that there s a second file in the zip folder ('showdown.scen' and a second one 'showdonw config data' : Is this file to remain in the standalone scenario folder alonside with showdown.scen, or should I put it somewhere else ?

re : I play lastest CMNAO update

Thanks for your help

Fonz -> RE: [DONE] New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/12/2013 5:04:35 PM)

I have updated the scenario to the latest database version. This runs fine on game build 460 and DB3000 version 399 (new file attached to the original post).

You don't need the "config data" file, that is just there in case you need to update the scenario to the latest database version. So the .scen file is all you need to play.

Rodwen67 -> RE: [DONE] New Scenario: Caribbean Crisis - The Showdown, 2012 (11/12/2013 6:08:56 PM)

Fonz : Congratulations, your caribbean scenarios are great.
