captskillet -> Couple of Questions (11/8/2013 1:09:44 PM)

working my way through the Barbarossa scen.

#1-Which combat table (Blitzkrieg or Assault to use when? I asume that in this situation since a breakthrough is what you want you use the Blitzkrieg results but it seems if you roll crappy you are the one blitzkrieged instead.

#2-HQ reorg phase, I assume you want to use all of your avalable pts. to bring as many disordered units as you can back up to par?

BTW.great Job Steve...this one looks like real keeper!

Yes to both.

Grotius -> RE: Couple of Questions (11/8/2013 1:20:49 PM)

1. The defender will often prefer assault, and the attacker will often prefer blitzkrieg. Partly it depends on whether you're using the 2D10 attack table (an optional rule) or not. It's easier to weigh the advantages and disadvantages if you're using the default (1D10) table, but I rather like the subtleties of the 2D10 table.

2. Actually, you should save your HQ reorg points until you're pretty sure that particular HQ won't need to move again this turn (and is in a safe spot). Once you use those points, the HQ itself becomes disorganized, which means it won't move and is more vulnerable to attack. Timing when to use those reorg points is a dicey thing, as you never can be sure when the turn will end.

Glad you're enjoying the game!

Using HQ for reorg can be a tricky decision yes. But unless you really fear that the enemy can kill your HQ, I usually don't think too long about it. Saving it for later is always nice, but it sucks to have the turn suddenly end and you lose the opportunity altogether. Some newly organized corps or armies late in a turn can be really advantageous! Learn by trying (and failing [:(] )

Thank you.

Section 3.4 in the Players Manual has a lot of advice from experienced players. It's a lot to read but Reorganization is discussed at length.
