The game manual is really lacking information given the complexity of the game. For me and many of the players we will go back and look at the harpoon manual. I think for some one who is new to this type of game they will be missing many of the fine nuances the game has to offer.

From what I remember of the Harpoon manual, its not going to be a lot of help. Now the separate supplement they sold is a different story.

What information about the game is missing?

The manual contains all of the basic stuff but it would be improved by the addition of more detailed information. I have played Harpoon on and off for a number of years but found the transition to CMNAO less than smooth and the structure of the manual difficult until I had read through it a few times.

What I think would be very helpfull, whether for ex 'Pooners or not, would be a series of structured tutorial scens (similar to those in Harpoon) together with detailed walk-through text.

I think the search function will find you those video tutorials.

In fact, it is a thread title only a few down from this. IIRC, it is video tutorials associated with specific scenarios.

The manual just seems to need more meat ( information), it can get you playing, but it wont get you up to speed if your new on the subject or the type of game. The manual for harpoon 2 was very good. i think it was better than the last version of harpoon. Also i like manual just printed on a white background more easy to read. The game is a great.
