El Savior -> Radars info (11/21/2013 7:43:23 PM)

I found great and extreme detailed radar info website I want to share it with you folks. It's available in several languages too.

Here's link for radar list mentioned in site: http://www.radartutorial.eu/19.kartei/ka03.en.html

Front page which have tons of detailed info how radars works. http://www.radartutorial.eu

Details are astonishing example:

P-15 “Flat Face A”
The “Strawberry Search Radar” - a highly mobile radar unit, special designed for detecting of very low flying aircrafts (russian designator: 1RL12). The P-15 radar system can be deployed and put into operation within 10 minutes!

Changing the directional diagram the both antennae are used in-phase or in opposition.

As an option this radar unit got a special antenna on a pylon with a height up to 150 ft. The maximum height was reduced in turn with that but the antenna diagram bring more closer to the earth's surface for this and the radar unit could also locate extremely low-flying aircrafts This configuration got the NATO reporting name “Squad Eye”.

First obvious error: Its 'Squat Eye', not 'Squad Eye'.

I'm sure there are errors. They lack community that Command have to fix those errors. [:D] As it is now, Command is soon the best database to check data.

Anyway, I used that page to check which radar should I use. Descriptions are badly needed. Few lines how radar is used and which forces used it would help a lot.

CV60 -> RE: Radars info (11/22/2013 2:56:57 PM)

A couple of us are working on getting descriptions for the ships/weapons/submarines/facilities written and in the database. If anyone is interested in helping with that project, we have some gaps you can help us fill. For anyone who is interested, PM me for details.

Yeah RadarTutorial is pretty good [8D]

I believe the above stats are already in the Command database [:D]

I wonder how we managed to live without Internet and massive free information it provides. Back in the 80's and 90's we didn't have Google Earth and Wikipedia for scenario makers. Amazing really.

Of course it's more difficult to find info about modern radars than older Cold War era stuff. [8|]

Books! Paper version of Kindle? [:D]

Yep, books are great, I'm (paper) book fan too. But had to make statement about how much easier it's now days when we have online tools to check for details. Here in cold Nordic countries we don't have as many books available as in English countries. I was onetime in Dublin and visited several local bookstores. Wow! I was in heaven. So many books about naval warfare and stuff like that. If I visit my local book store here in Finland, there's only handful of interesting books about the subject. Thankfully I can order books online now.
