Agelastus -> Naval abort issue - single unit (11/22/2013 5:09:50 PM)

Basic situation:

Playing a solitaire game. Surface Naval Combat between a CW force in box 3 and 4 and a German force in box zero of the Bay of Biscay. The CW initiated combat, after 1 round the Germans decide to abort. They have 1 ship to abort from battle damage and then the whole remaining force to abort afterwards. The form seems to work as the CW manage to return three ships that had combat aborted to port with no issues.

Problem:

The German CL that aborts from combat is selectable. However, the unit is unabortable on the map; when hovering the unit over home ports in Germany the "cross and circle" symbol comes up (which, I believe, indicates it's a legitimate destination but that the unit needs to fight through a seazone containing allied ships on the way there.) Unfortunately, the naval unit cannot be placed anywhere on the map to fight through this seazone (it just has the cross over it wherever you move it.) I've reloaded the game sufficient times to fight a battle in the same circumstances four times; the issue occurs regardless of the number of damaged German ships trying to abort.

If this symbol appears, the unit aborting has first to fight it's way through another Sea zone, before it can reach the port you want it to enter. You now have to CTRL left click on the Sea zone you want to pass through on route to the save port, so another naval battle can be fought against the aborting units (if they find you).

Yes.

Having to use Ctrl-Left-Click isn't obvious.[:(]

I'll see what I can do to make this more clear.
I've a couple of ideas but I like to wait a couple of days before rushing in to make code changes. One my ideas will gradually rise to the surface as the best of the lot. Once that happens, I modify the code.

Well, I agree it's not obvious, but at least it isn't a bug and now I know what to do.

Thanks for the assistance.
