Shannon V. OKeets -> Hot Patch - Update 1.0.4.1 (11/25/2013 1:24:21 AM)

This is a first for me, so bear with me if I don't have this as clean as you might expect.

---

The attachment (MWIF 1 0 4 1.txt) contains a hot patch: version 1.0.4.1. You download the file, rename it to change the extension from TXT to ZIP, unzip the file, and replace the file MWIF.exe. This should only be done if you have already updated your version to 1.0.4.0 (a.k.a. v1.04).

The modifications from version 1.0.4.0 are:

1. November 22, 2013 - Fixed a non-fatal problem with cancelling using an air reorganization point.

2. November 23, 2013 - Fixed a problem with Production Planning where trying to use the Radio Checkbox for Route 1, when a factory was the selected, caused a non-fatal error.

3. November 23, 2013 - Revised a check for recomputing production before saving a game. This was generating non-fatal errors at different places in the sequence of play if Autosave executed while the Production Planning form was open. The autosaves should no longer encounter this problem.

4. November 23, 2013 - Added a check for a valid route existing before displaying an animation of the route’s path.

5. November 24, 2013 - Fixed the fatal port attack bug that was introduced in one of the two immediately previous versions.

6. November 24, 2013 - Added more details about the problem when an error is returned trying to access the Seeking Opponent database.

EDIT: This process seems to work. The name of the download file is a long string of letters and numbers. But if you ignore that and change the extension to ZIP, you'll find MWIF.exe inside the zipped file (with the crazy long name).

Hokum -> RE: Hot Patch - Update 1.0.4.1 (11/25/2013 1:48:55 AM)

I had to check my calendar, but yes, it is still sunday... wow. Thanks! [&o]

wolf14455 -> RE: Hot Patch - Update 1.0.4.1 (11/25/2013 2:19:53 AM)

Yup extremly fast. Kudos. Where you get your energy from? From us? [:D]

Courtenay -> RE: Hot Patch - Update 1.0.4.1 (11/25/2013 3:51:24 AM)

I exit MWIF. Change file type to zip. Click on file. Get a window showing a file named MWIF.exe. Click on that file. Ignore security warning, let program change my computer. Get an error message that reads:

MWIF.exe - System Error
"The program can't start because rtl140.bpl is missing from your
computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I have no idea what this means. I am running Windows 7 Home premium.

My thanks for all the work you are doing.

Replace the mwif.exe in your World in Flames folder with the one in the zip file.

wolf14455 -> RE: Hot Patch - Update 1.0.4.1 (11/25/2013 5:12:41 AM)

I got Win 7 and it worked fine for me.

tdpyle -> RE: Hot Patch - Update 1.0.4.1 (11/25/2013 12:26:35 PM)

Try this. Download the posted file to your computer. Open the file. Copy the MWIF file to your desktop. Copy the desktop file into the Matrix Games MWIF folder.

Omnius -> Doesn't Work (11/25/2013 2:38:48 PM)

I just tried downloading the mw1041.txt file and it doesn't save as a txt file that can be renamed to a zip file. A total bust. I'll wait for the 1041 real update patch file, until then I'll just play with 1.04, which worked perfectly for updating.

Ominus and Courtenay please try this.

1- I saved Steves hot fix download to my documents.

2- go to my documents and go to the file you saved and right click it and then click extract all you will see the world globe in flames icon, that is the exe. file.

3- go to the game file open it and delete the icon exe file in the main game. There are 2 icons of a world with flames on it, just put your mouse pointer over one of them and it should have properties of around 29 mgs thats the one you delete.

4- drag the extracted icon exe into the main file where the one you deleted had been

I did it that way and it is working fine.

Remember to delete the old start icon on your desktop and put the new start icon on your desk top.

I canīt get it to work.

have no idea of how to change the file type with windows 8 ...

Numdydar -> RE: Doesn't Work (11/25/2013 3:46:36 PM)

You should be able to right click the file and select Rename. If that does not work, I have no clue as I am still on 7 (and plan on being on it for a while [:)])

bo -> RE: Hot Patch - Update 1.0.4.1 (11/25/2013 3:53:07 PM)

This is the new exe dated 11/24

michael I do it the same as if I used filezilla with all of Steves patches in the beta testing. I did not rename anything. Again remember[very important] change your old start icon on the desk top to the new one.

bo -> RE: Hot Patch - Update 1.0.4.1 (11/25/2013 4:04:30 PM)

This my documents screen you see Steves fix with all the letters and numbers there. Right click and you will see this drop down, click extract all, hit finish and you will see a screen or popup with just a flame icon on it that is the one you drag to the main game portfolio. The old exe should read 11/21 the new one 11/24 delete the old one first then drag the new on into the main file on your computer.

If this does not work for you then we have a very quaint saying in the US and that is PUNT!

DId you change the .txt extension to .zip ? You do that by 'rename' the file

I just overwrote the old exe with the new one, and I didn't have to delete the start icon on the desktop? I ran the game with the Menu one, and the quick start icon. Both run the game as 1.04.1?

I am always thinking like a beta tester, Steve always reminded us when you do a new patch always make sure that you bring the desktop start icon current, I do not know if you new game people who have the game from the disc have to change the desktop start icon or if it is done automatically. Of course you can always run the game from inside the game menu. But I do not think that is a good idea doing that all the time.

Patrick31 -> RE: Doesn't Work (11/25/2013 6:55:13 PM)

the icon on the desk is only a shortcut to the exe file in the WIF directory.
As long as the target file has the same name you don'ty need to change the shortcut (as in this case)

a good practice is to rename your old .exe file like.exe.bak, then unzip the dowloaded 1.0.4.1 file.

if you can't rename a file check if the computer is not hiding the extension (file manager, display options, remove the tic box "hide extension of known types" or something like that (I have it in French sorry)). Once you can see the .txt extension you can rename it to .zip

I understand that, and thank you for your insight but I have not used my game disc yet I am still using my beta files to play and test. I do not understand why anyone is having a problem. With the screens I am showing above if everyone followed them then they should be alright, people like me are not good with txt or zip but somehow I get it right.

Ok I hear the beta people snickering, yeah Bo gets it after we had to explain it to him 10 times [:D]

Bo, the Updater now downloads 1.04.1 automatically. No need to have to go through that 10 time routine again.

I like going through the 10 timer [:D]

Are you saying the updater works with Steves debugging patch also? I am having no problems but it seems other people are having trouble.

Yes, Andrew has set up the files today to be downloaded automatically. I just did it, and it worked. Port Attacks are OK again.

140+ downloads already. That is telling [:)]
