Plant -> Weapon accuracy, how does it work? (11/25/2013 5:03:57 PM)

A popular topic here is the effectiveness of various weapons and ship designs. However they all assume that weapon accuracy is the same towards each other, as we do not know how it affects ship combat. -10% railguns and +10% phasors. What does it mean? It would be interesting if we had some hard facts on this. In the manual, under space combat, it is written that "Weapon accuracy is determined by distance, speed of target, targetting sensors, countermeasures, etc." Under the Galactopedia, it is written under Combat-Space battles: Weapon Accuracy When weapons are fired at a target their accuracy is determined by the following factors: • Distance from the target: if the weapon is near the limit of its range then it will be less accurate than if it is close to the target • Speed of the target: slower targets are easier to hit. Completely stationary targets like bases are especially easy to hit. • Combat Targeting sensors on your ships increase the likelihood that your weapons will find their target • Countermeasures components on your ships make them harder to hit • Random, uncontrollable factors also play their part in making weapons accuracy better or worse
