cdebasso -> order of land attacks - effect on supply (11/25/2013 10:22:18 PM)

just had a situation where the result of a first land attack (defender eliminated and advance after combat) should have resulted in the unit in the next hex, target of a second attack, to be out of supply (three surrounding hexes occupied by enemy units before the first attack, fourth surrounding hex occupied after the advance resulting from the first attack, no more friendly units around). As the unit was disorganized, this should have made the second attack a piece of cake... but didn't, the program considered it as still in supply.
Is it a bug, or is it that advancing units don't immediately exert a ZOC to cut supply, or that supply is not checked between the different attacks?

Sounds like a bug. Supply should be checked for both attackers and defenders prior to each attack. Did you actually perform the attack and the odds remained incorrect?

Thanks for your answer.
I did, and the odds remained incorrect.
I attach a printout of the screen, just before the 2d attack.
Note that I had the opposite problem in another attack, where a notional unit was counted as zero, I suppose for being out of supply, even though it was not (see my thread "notional unit worth zero?").

The defense factor doesn't look right but it has been reduced. If both Wavell and the AA unit are OOS they should be worth 2 not 3.

jesperpehrson -> RE: order of land attacks - effect on supply (11/26/2013 5:11:35 AM)

The aa is doubled?

Dabrion -> RE: order of land attacks - effect on supply (11/26/2013 6:56:06 PM)

How/where do you see it has been reduced? The AA has 3 factors printed and Def: 3 in the summary panel. It has not been reduced. I agree that Wavell and the mot. lt. AA hex are oos, presumable after the first land combat removed units from the hex to the west.

Could it be that you only check the attackers supply status when declaring the attack (per 2.4.1), but then not check again at the moment of combat (also per 2.4.1)? Or only check the attacker at the moment of combat?

Centuur -> RE: order of land attacks - effect on supply (11/26/2013 7:03:12 PM)

It hasn't been reduced. The form only shows the gun, not the hex values... Looks like a bug to me...

If you encounter these, you might try to save this game and restore it. Supply is recalculated if you restore a saved game. Check if Wavell is now rightfully stated as OOS. It looks like the program ignores the Japanese unit to the East of Wavell.

paulderynck -> RE: order of land attacks - effect on supply (11/26/2013 7:12:52 PM)

My mistake. I thought the unit display showed both because it references Wavell at the bottom.

Shannon V. OKeets -> RE: order of land attacks - effect on supply (11/26/2013 9:56:27 PM)

Almost certainly a bug.[:@] But Wavell could have used Emergency HQ Supply. Unless I am mistaken, the status indicators would be different fro Wavell then. And I am sure you would have remembered invoking emergency HQ supply.[:)]
