Bazza042 -> Manual Targetting (11/29/2013 11:28:17 AM)

I seem to get into a bind with this on 460. (I appreciate that 469 is out and at the moment in 8344 hours and 37 minutes it will have completed downloading.....)

To target manually you need to get a 'close up' view of the target on the screen (to avoid the area bombing syndrome).

It is then easy to lose focus on the aircraft's location.

Is there any way of switching easily between the screen with the aircraft and the one with the target when you are zoomed right in?

I know that you can manually use the mouse wheel to zoom in or out but:

a) it frequently 'freezes' - the remainder of the sim carries on happily but I can't reduce/increase the area covered by the screen. I have a reasonably powerful processor (i7) although it may be that the graphics card is
the cause.

b) even if I get around the above, if I zoom out and then immediately back in I don't appear to arrive at the same place so I then have to use the arrow buttons again to try to find either the plane or the target.

It's a brilliant simulation but manual targeting is such an issue that I've reverted to the automatic.

I am sure that there is something I have missed here......[&:]

Would appreciate help.

One of the new UI features in Build 469, quick-jump slots, was made with exactly such situations in mind. Simply store your unit's position in one slot, and the target's position in another, and you jump back and forth with a single keypress.

Thanks!

You can also (while waiting for that download) know that the zoom-in will come centered on wherever you right click, so if you need to zoom in at the edge of your screen just right click that edge then zoom in and it should put you to the right place.
The 469 quick jumps are awesome by the way!

Many thanks,

I must say that the support is tremendous: especially when facilities are provided before I knew I wanted them [:D]

In about 8000 hours time (see earlier post[:'(]) I'll be able to try it out......

Many thanks for the tip.

Much appreciated.

Haven't had this much fun for quite a while: everyone involved with this simulation seems to intent on providing superb support.....

I haven't even heard the 'its not a bug, its a feature' comment as yet.....

Man what's your download speed?

Elouda -> RE: Manual Targetting (11/30/2013 5:05:48 PM)

You can also drag an area with Ctrl-Leftclick after issuing the Engage Target (Manual) order, and it will list everything in that area on the weapons assignment menu. This way you do not have to zoom in to hunt down the desired target, and are still able to selectively engage targets as a result of weapons allocation.

The above will also work with Engage Target (Auto), but obviously this is a little riskier since you don't get the weapons assignment screen to double check targets from.

Wow...awesome tip. Didn't know that.

I apologize for revisiting this subject but I haven't been able to find (on Build 474 or 469 for that matter) how you create a 'quick-jump' slot. I guess I am being obtuse but I can't find this facility in any of the menus.

How do I go about it, please?

Many thanks for any help you have the time to give.....

Hello,

Use Ctrl+[number] to store a slot (while having a unit/contact selected), and [number] to retrieve it.

Thanks!

Many thanks, again, for the prompt guidance.

How can I find out this sort of thing without having to keep on troubling you?

I couldn't find anything in the documentation... Is there a sort of 'hints and tips' page somewhere or did I just miss it?

Thanks again for the rapid response.

thewood1 -> RE: Manual Targetting (12/11/2013 2:51:03 PM)

I think it was in the readme for one of the builds. One of the first things I do after looking in the manual is look at the build roll thread. A lot of new stuff is in there.

No fear, you're not missing anything obvious--even though CMANO is only moving in on v1.02, many of the finer aspects of the game have changed significantly since the manual was written.

Probably the best solution would be to have a CMANO Wiki Manual...

RoryAndersonCDT -> RE: Manual Targetting (12/12/2013 5:39:47 AM)

I can host a Command wiki but I don't have the time to curate it. I'll need some dedicated guys to take care of it!

RoryAndersonCDT -> RE: Manual Targetting (12/12/2013 6:15:52 AM)

Okay wiki has been setup http://wiki.baloogancampaign.com/

Please, please, please jump right in and start making pages!
