TMP95 -> Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/1/2013 10:48:10 PM)

Even with "Target of opportunities" turned OFF - With Build 469 it will automatically turn on at some point and every ship (regardless of inside of a group or not) will launch tomahawks where they see fit.

It would be one thing if they did this when you gave the "all go" type signal. But really hurting my ability to play when trying to set something up and out of the blue I have 20 tomahawks in the air...

TMP95 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/1/2013 10:50:05 PM)

I'm playing Iranian Drum mission - I have tried editing the mission to make sure targets of opportunity is seleced off (inherintely) as well as trying to double turn them off again once mission starts. Yet at some point it switches to ON. Pretty much as soon as the first A to A engagement happens...

TMP95 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 12:46:34 AM)

Is there a way to stop this from happening? basically has my ability to use CMANO at a stand still. Lots of energy / time into setting up my layout only within several mins of gameplay for my entire BG to start launching.

thewood1 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 1:24:47 AM)

I don't think 460 had the target of opportunity setting. Sounds like you have the versions mixed up.

TMP95 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 1:28:10 AM)

I"m on the latest public release Build 469 -

Within the first 2 mins of the Operation Drum (Iran mission). My Battle Group has launched over 110 Tomahawk missiles. Does this seem right??

thewood1 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 1:56:18 AM)

I let mine run for an hour and not launched a single Tomahawk. The SAG was constantly launching SAMs at what appears to be Iranian CAP Mig-29s, but nothing else.

TMP95 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 2:00:24 AM)

Really?? I've restarted this mission now 5 times. This last time I did not launch a single aircraft (well a two ship of F-35s to try and play test something else) and within 2 mins I had over 100 Tomahawk's lanuched.

Here targeting on own -

thewood1 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 2:20:53 AM)

I saw in the support section that the bug is in setting an entire side's ROE. It looks like opportunity never gets fully set. I always set ROE by groups.

thewood1 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 2:24:55 AM)

Interestingly, when I start it up, the default ROE is do not engage targets of opportunity. Does yours start up as Yes?

thewood1 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 2:31:39 AM)

I switched opportunity fire to yes, it took it, and immediately fired off Tomahawks. That is the behavior I would expect from the game.

TMP95 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 3:38:17 AM)

Yes. Mine is auto set to yes. Even when I switch it to "No". Still auto switches itself back to Yes.

TMP95 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 3:40:45 AM)

And how does one set ROEs BY GROUP?? Where is this option? I only see setting by the entire Side.

TMP95 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 3:53:25 AM)

There is some type of BUG going on with my Build. I can go in through the editor. Open up the Iran Drum mission. I can go to editor tab. Click slides. Click ROE for any particular side. And for USA. It will switch between YES and NO (on targets of opportunity) right before my eyes. Click on and look, it will show NO. Close it. recheck the ROE tab and it will then show YES???

TMP95 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 4:14:19 AM)

I have went and Reinstalled another DL of Build 469 - Thus far my battle group is not auto targeting with 100s of tomahawks now! I guess one should never touch the Side ROEs. perhaps.

TMP95 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 4:15:15 AM)

Though if one wants to adjust the proficency scale I think you come in contact with reshaping ROEs per side perhaps. As this is all I adjusted before.

Dimitris -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 5:00:11 AM)

Can we please get a step-by-step to precisely reproduce the problem?

thewood1 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 11:51:23 AM)

btw, as the manual states, you can adjust ROE by group from the info box on the right. Select a group, click on ROE in the info box, click change. CHange any ROE for the group.

TMP95 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 1:57:20 PM)

Still doing it with reinstalled 469 Build -

What is happening. I"m playing Operation Drum (Iran mission). If I start game up and don't do anything. Make one decision. Only thing BG will do is launch some self-defense RIM shots at MIG-29s.

However, if I plot 1 aircraft course, put one aircraft on the map. The entire battle group will auto matically switch its "target of opportunity" from OFF to ON. Thus launching every tomahawk within mins.

Latest pic, new reinstalled 469 build. less than 2 mins in.

Dimitris -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 2:18:19 PM)

I am doing _exactly_ what you described, using B469, in that specific scenario, and the ships are not launching any offensive strikes.

Sorry, but unable to reproduce here.

Anyone else besides TMP95 experiencing this problem in B469 ?

thewood1 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 2:47:50 PM)

As I stated...not happening in my game. Not a single tomahawk launches until I make it happen. I have launched aircraft, put ships on missions, etc...nothing.

thewood1 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 2:48:44 PM)

Can you put a save up or show your ROE settings? Why is the info box cut off? SHow the whole picture so I can see what it looks like.

Dannyp19 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 3:07:27 PM)

Ive noticed that the doctrine changes from off to on. Almost like the same thing that was happening with the refuel doctrine.

Am I right in thinking that side doctrine (from game options) settings take all units into account unless it is different from group or mission doctrine. Then if units finish mission or break from the group the units revert back to side doctrine.

Seems like the refuel doctrine is working now, but the problem has switched to the target of opportunity doctrine. If this makes sense.

TMP95 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 3:10:52 PM)

Will Do - My bad on pic - I was just doing a screen shop and trying to crop quickly with general box -

At work now - Once home I will provide game save file. As for ROEs, I did not touch / change them. Will say this. It seems to have happened after I d8d a reinstall of Build 469 and then went and checked as you were describing how to set group ROEs. So I clicked on Carrier group to just look at it (it was set to NO, for target opportunity). Few moments later, my Group (with F-35s) on board starts launching Tomahawks (I hear them first with sound). Then the Carrier group starts launching (and I right click their ROEs and now it is switched to ON, as if they picked up on what other Group was up too.....which is some ways makes sense).

But I'm wondering if it was me checking ROEs to begin with? Which then caused it to flip from NO to yes?

I actually have no clue. But since Build 469 it has happened every time withiin first several mins (except for last night when I did a reinstall of 469 and then did not do a single thing but start the mission and let it run and 5 mins at a time just to see. That 1 time nothing happened other than RIMs being fired).

Runibl -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 3:13:19 PM)

Just found out how to reproduce this every time in B469, all scenarios it seems.
"Operation Bass Drum" as an example.

* Start scenario.
* Go into "Doctrine & ROE" in Game menu.
* Expand "Use Refuel/Unrep" and select "No"
* This instantly sets "Engage opportunity targets" to "Yes" at the same time.
And ships will fire at targets at this point. Unless you are paused, which will allow you to correct it to "No" again.

I'm trying to test this in B470, but because of a bug that I reported, I am unable.

Dannyp19 -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 3:18:32 PM)

Runibi, I was just going to say the exact same thing.

Dimitris -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 3:22:40 PM)

You said the problem only happens if you bring up the doctrine window to examine stuff, right?

In this case this may be related to an UI issue we fixed in B471, see here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3483326

Can you run the same scenario without bringing up the doctrine window at all and see what happens?

Runibl -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 3:22:53 PM)

I have reported the bug.
It is also in B470.

Runibl -> RE: Build 469 - Ships constantly firing Tomahawks (12/2/2013 3:31:53 PM)

This one only seems to happen if I change the refuel doctrine, which seems to change both settings.
The training scenario, oddly works differently. If I don't open the doctrine window, nothing happens. But as soon as I open it, it changes "Engage opportunity targets" to yes.

EDIT: No strike that, just got the naval units to change their doctrine to yes, just by opening the doctrine window.

This may be related, I will check this again in B471 when available.
