istari6 -> Does AI suffer from Fog of War? (12/12/2013 2:39:46 AM)

First, let me compliment the designers on an excellent game. I've been a long-time wargamer, but never focused on World War I before. When reading Max Hasting's new book "Catastrophe 1914", I grew interested in finding a wargame to learn more about the conflict. CGTW has fit the bill perfectly. However, I've just finished my 2nd game as the Central Powers (both losses), and I'm beginning to wonder if the AI labors under the same FOW constraints as I do? Particularly on the Eastern Front, I've noticed that the AI seems to make beelines towards any major city that I leave uncovered, even when it's deep in my rear and there aren't any recon assets available to the Entente. Yet if I move a garrison force there they never try for the city, even when it's 10-15 hexes away. Similarly, the AI seems to have an uncanny ability to sense holes in my lines and drive towards them, even when there's no recon around to show it's a vulnerability. Am I correct in assuming the AI has perfect knowledge of the map and my deployments? I can live with that, but it certainly changes my strategies. Any impressions from others? Thanks! Chris
