bsq -> [FIXED B480] [B478] SAM LOS Not Following Laws of Physics (12/12/2013 11:31:08 PM)

See the attached save, the action will happen quite quickly but I only noticed it at this point.

I have a wave of tomahawks coming in through northern Lebanon (mountainous terrain) attacking targets in Syria.

The lone surviving tomahawk is about to be taken out by 4 SA-17 missiles.

The problem is that the tomahawk is at 1955 feet, being targetted by SAMs whose guiding radar is at 1814 feet, drawing LOS through a ridge of mountains at 2802 feet (spot height at 343526N 0361947E). This issue makes terrain masking impossible as an anti sam tactic.

Are you getting the same in 479?

Just checked you are.

Logging an issue to have the illumination vectors looked at

479 = 476 as far as the hi au crash bug is concerned

Is that good or bad?

Mike

Bad, I have rolled back to B478 - sorry

Is this comment now obsolete since in another thread you mentioned that B479 now runs fine on your rig?

(This is the trouble with making the same point across multiple threads [;)])

Thanks for posting this!

There wasn't any problem with the LOS code itself, it was a subtle flaw in the guidance AI.

Fixed in Build 480.
