hamlet -> [FIXED] Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (12/24/2013 11:09:20 AM)

Hello all,

starting I think with R476 I started to experience random freezes of the game. I still get this with V1.02.

Can't apply possible causes to it. It seems to be unrelated to user interaction or zooming. I had one case where the game was just progressing in 1 sec High fidelity mode without any user interaction and then time and display frooze. After some seconds the wait Cursor comes up and you need to kill the app with the Task Manager.
For some seconds even the menu worked before the wait cursor appeared.

Attached are three autosaves where I continued after the freeze and experienced the next game freeze some time later.

Hope you can drill down the bug.

All the best and merry X-Mas to the Team and Keep up the excellent work.

That sounds a lot like what I have been experiencing. Did your freezes happen during large air attacks (air strikes or cruise missiles) against fairly modern (say 1980s onwards) air defenses, like mine?

hamlet -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (12/26/2013 12:36:50 PM)

I experienced the freezes in the air strike tutorial. There were Missiles in the air, but it is not a heavy Scenario, so approx. 20 planes and 10 Missiles in the air.

But Missiles in the air could be a hint, I think this was mostly the case when freezes happened.

kneecaps -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (12/27/2013 11:05:24 AM)

I've had this in the air tutorial mostly just before my AIM-54s start to enter their terminal phase and just as my Shrikes start to hit the air defences...always when there are a significant quantity of missiles in the air (and just about to impact).

Any autosave?

Thanks for the report! And most importantly for providing the save.

kneecaps -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (12/27/2013 11:19:36 AM)

I have a manual save and an autosave just before. Autosave uploaded.

Dimitris -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (12/27/2013 11:21:55 AM)

Compress them to zip, and the board will accept them for uploads.

Thanks!

Uploaded to my previous message.

hamlet -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (1/2/2014 2:53:02 PM)

@Sunburn:

I tried the autosave_Crash.scen with B481 and it still freezes. The freeze is not Happening at the same Point in time or is reliably reproducible, so at first try it froze, when I tried again, it did not freeze for a longer time.

Hope this helps for Drilling down. Please let me know if I can provide additional logs.

ventris -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (1/3/2014 2:26:45 PM)

I have similiar problems.

As soon as some air combat starts (around 10-15 planes engaging each other with missles) the game freezes.

Version 1.02 on windows 7 system.

Rodwen67 -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (1/3/2014 2:47:52 PM)

The same thing for me .... 15-20 planes + missiles ... Version 1.02 on windows 7 system.

Unfortunately I have no save.

Hi, can you please post a pre-freeze autosave? Thanks!

Rodwen67 -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (1/3/2014 5:31:39 PM)

Hello, this is a save from just before the freeze ...

DannyJim_slith -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (1/3/2014 9:07:29 PM)

Hi

I have the same issue with freezing during A2A combat. Was first evident during the pincer scenario.

I have no save as I don't its going to happen then ... freeze

The only way out is through task manager hence no save.

The autosave file (\Scenarios\Autosave.scen) is perfect for such situations. Next time this happens, before restarting the game please zip and post the autosave file on this here thread.

Thanks!

Yesterday I upgraded my pc with new CPU, RAM, Motherboard and GPU, havent encountered any crash yet.
I think it has to do with to limited hardware.

Upgraded from a dual core 2+Ghz CPU, 3GB RAM, Radeon HD4870 to six core 3,5Ghz CPU, 2x4GB RAM, ATI Radeon R9 270x. So far no crashes of any sort and games runs MUCH, MUCH better than before (although that was to be expected [:D] ).

hamlet -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (1/6/2014 7:29:54 PM)

@Sunburn:

Just tried B483 by loading the autosave file. The attached autosave file freezes B483 immediately and reproducibly when I start the time. Planes/Missiles never move, only the text for a mobile Radar site gets updated. No pulse is generated.

This autosave origins from one of my previously posted autosaves (after a random freeze). I copied that back to check if B482 still freezes. The attached autosave is from a freeze in B482.

Hope this helps to drill down the freezes.

Dimitris -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (1/6/2014 8:45:40 PM)

Thanks, logged as high-priority.

Dabo -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (1/7/2014 8:35:17 AM)

Same problem here. It usually happens in large scenarios when a lot of missiles and AC are in the air. The freeze happened at 3:15.14 GMT.
Version 1.02 build 483 WIn8 64 4 GB ram Core2 6700 Radeon HD6900. Attached the autosave and a manual save just before the freeze.

thanks

Currently testing all 3 saves under Build 484 and not getting any crash/freeze. It is possible the problems were resolved by one of the fixes included in this build.

Can you please give this another go when the next public release is made available? Thanks!

Same as with OP's autosaves, not encountering a problem under Build 484. Please try this again once the next public release is available. Thanks!

bump

hamlet -> RE: Bug report 480- V1.02: Randomly freezes (1/20/2014 5:01:35 PM)

Apologies,

I was on Business trip. Issue is not solved.

I tried B486 and got a freeze when the Walleyes were approaching their target as assigned in the mission. Autosave is attached.

Very strange and reproducible: After loading the AutoSave the Walleyes are changing course and are all attacking the bullseye target instead of their assigned target from the Mission.

Please have another look.

The assigned targets of weapons in flight (possibly torpedoes too but I am not sure) as well as manually assigned weapons releases seem to not be included in saved games so they get lost when reloading. At least that has been my experience.

That's strange, because I remember this issue and I was pretty certain we got it fixed by B484. Thanks for the save! We'll take a look.

Would that fix it also for games saved pre-484 and loaded with 484?
