M4Jess -> Market Garden Hawk vs. M4 Jess (1/27/2003 5:38:22 AM)

its on!

Allied turn 1

British Airborne
Arnhem Col. Frosts men reach the bridge with only a few sniper shots being fired at them.

82nd
82nd AB approach Nijmengen and Groosbeek no contact.
Pathfinders of the 82nd make contact both north and south of the Grave Bridge.

101st
West of Veghal 101st AB mix it up with German Inf at long range.
more 101 AB troops approach Eindhevon from the west and come under fire from German HMGs and Inf guns.

XXX Corps
The (soon to be) historic march of XXX corps starts!
Forward Inf units are hosed down and forced to pop smoke west of the road.
Same on the east side of the road.
A AEC Armored Car comes under fire from 2 AT guns and a bunker, and lives to bolt off the road to safety! While another AEC moves to join the 1st it breaks down right in the line of sight of the bunker! Shots are traded and the bunker dies!
Another AEC and M4 V smoke the two ATGs and fire on the German infantry in the Ambush trench, when a Daimler AC moves in to support the attack on the trench another bunker comes to life with MG fire on the AC. More XXX corps units move up and put the MG bunker to death and chase off half the trench infantry. Arty is called in on the main line and I am already behind schedule.

Hawk -> ParaTroopppens!!!!!!! (1/27/2003 6:07:47 PM)

Elements of the XXX Corps have smashed through our foward position. There are also reports of Paratroops by Eindhoven,Nijmegen, Paras have also been seen in the outskirts of Arnhem.

Allied turn 2

British Airborne
Arnhem: Col. Frost start to dig in at the bridge and await reinforcements.

82nd
Nijmengen: Contact! MG bunker goes to work on my recon..pop the smoke!
Groosbeek: Contact! German Inf push back 1 squad and more men are called in!
Grave Bridge: North, MG went byby and I take out a AT bunker guarding the bridge from the rear. South, I ran into those German Inf squads again and 2 men go down!

101st
Veghal: 60mm Mrt takes on a convoy of 3 Halftracks and misses, other units shoot at the HTs and miss while AB inf take on more Ger. Inf at the town. There is a un-named bridge due west of the town and there are all sorts of Inf guns there!
Eindhevon: A 37mm AT takes out a PzMkIV3 :-) and engage the 75mm Inf guns guarding the south/west corner of the town.

XXX Corps: Both the 75mm ATGs are taken out and I push back a Inf SQ. no more contact (yet) as I try to push up the road. I lost 2 ACs to the same dang minefeild because I am stupid!

Arty called in!

A Massive 2nd wave of Airborne troops drop at the end of the turn.

Hawk -> More Paras Spotted.... (1/30/2003 6:12:21 PM)

XXX Corps is making progress... My men are rushing up to slow them done......Villagers are being forced into service to build road blocks and barricads.
My men vow to make these British pay for every step they take!

Eindhevon is under attack from elements of the 101st prara troops. It is believed they landed to the West of the City. Panzer units have been dispatched at the HIGHEST SPEED!
We've also seen the 101st by the small town of Veghal.

The Small town of Grave is being attacked by the 82nd All Americans. We have a small contingent of SS troopers there trying to take care of what ever pops up or drops down.

Groosbeek has also seen elements of the 82nd on the outskirts of town.
It appears the 82nd is trying to take Nijmegen..........But we have a surprise for them there.

British Paras are in Arnhem!!!! they control the North end of the bridge. We believes they are spread out through out the whole area. Panzers are being dispatched as we speak!
The Furher continues to tell me to calm down....
But i truly dont believe he understands the Situation!!!!!

M4Jess -> (1/31/2003 7:11:00 AM)

Allied turn 3

British Airborne

Oosterbeek: Organize the new landing and getting ready to push toward the prize bridge! One very sweet thing...Airborne Arty! 75mm packs!

82nd
Nijmengen: Resistance is stiff! I am not even in the town yet! Dang MG bunker is in a perfect spot! (who designed this scenario!?)
Groosbeek: Contact! Firefight! I trade shots with 2 Ger Inf SQs and come out on top but only after 1 AB SQ got raked in the ambush. I close in from 3 sides.
Grave Bridge:I took the north end by force! the side of town is another story! There must be an entire platoon holding me back! One very sweet thing...Airborne Arty! 75mm packs!

101st
Veghal: West, Between the town and the un-named bridge there are two commercial buildings..and they are packed full of German FJs! They must of come out of those HTs. FJs, we hates um! 2 Marders north of town pee'n 75mm HE at me! (Bastards!)
Eindhevon: More FJs...hssssssss...holding on and pinning me west of town!
One very sweet thing...Airborne Arty! 75mm packs!

XXX Corps: Creeps up the road to find a 50mmATG (killed) and a MkIII! Boom goes one AC! and misses the second one. I lost 2 Stuarts to the same dang minefield! How stupid am I!!!

Hawk -> Hold Fast MEN (2/1/2003 9:38:16 AM)

XXX Corps....My men are trying desperatly to hold the British and what looks to be Irish Tanks. The longer we hold them the more time it allows for reinforcements to arrive. Tanks are being knocked out on the road of breakthrough.

Eindhevon is undr serious threat. The 101st have managed to get into the town on the Western end. Bitter house to house fighting is taking place. The call for artillery has been sent!! I only hope it comes in time.
The small town of Veghal (which is located North of Eindhoven ) is standing at the ready with 2 Marder III's in support. We are managing to keep the 101st in the fields just outside of town.

In the small town of Graves....the 82nd All Americans are putting up a stiff fight.
Elements have manage to take the North end of the Bridge (To our SURPRISE). We hold the Southern end and are giving them a good fight. My men west of town have seen rafts trying to cross the river and link up with the Northern end of the Bridge!!!!

Nijmegen at the present time is quiet with some sporadic gunfire taking place just South of the city.

Arnhem is slowlyyyyyy being contained.We dont know the strength of the paras in front of us but we have scout trying to find out. British paras still hold the North end of the Bridge.My SS troops are advancing slowly hose to house.
Reinforcements have been called.
The Furher still does not understand the true situation before me....

:mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

M4Jess -> (2/1/2003 11:06:24 PM)

Allied turn 4

British Airborne
Arnhem: SS! More SS! And I missed the ID on a small Panzer! After it killed A Bren Carrier it booked! I hold the north end of the bridge now...in force!
Oosterbeek: Classified

82nd
Nijmengen: Trade a few shots and I took the SW corner of the city.
Groosbeek: A wild house to house melee! German Inf and American AB units pop up everywhere.
Grave: The first Bridge falls! I attacked from the north. I saw many German units and lost men.
West of Grave: Scouts cross the river! German Inf snipe from the west.

101st
Veghal: West, one of the Marders is blown to smeg from a 60mm AB mortar with direct fire. The AB inf go in, sharp fire fights break out everywhere west of town. The un-named bridge falls with dead Germans and AB alike, a ugly fire fight.
Eindhevon: We moved further into town and I am ready to start clearing the road south for XXX Corps.

XXX Corps: In trouble, I cant breakout! I got no-where this turn.

Arty!

So far..very very fun and historical..
:)

Hawk -> Nice (2/3/2003 2:14:42 AM)

XXX Corp is still being held ...numerous Tanks and Halftracks have been put out of actions....but not without lost to my troops. The Brits tried a flanking move to my left ....we expected it. We continue to deny them the road and slow them up.

Eindhevon...elements of the 101st are contiuing to make thier way into the city from the west. There is bitter house to house fighting still going on with no clear winner yet. Reinforcements are on the way.

The town of Veghal (which lies North of Eindhevon) is also under bitter attack from the West. We manage to keep the 101st at bay due to a small canal they must cross in order to make it to my men. I've called in some SdKFz 's for support....as well as a MarderIII.

The town of Grave is under constant attack from the 82nd. We are consolidating the lines and holding the Southern end of the bridge.

Nijmegen is seeing action from the West and Southern end of the city. Support is on the way.

Arnhem...SS elements are South of the bridge. We have house to house fighting going on. It appears that some British paras are trying to lik up with the Bridge from the West...we will investigate this further.

Jess let me know if you got my turn....

:D :D :D :D ;) ;) ;)

M4Jess -> Oh boy....... (2/3/2003 5:25:43 AM)

Allied turn 5

British Airborne
Arnhem: Not much, I dig in at the Bridge and await reinforcements. I did chase away a few pesky SS units, and spotted a MkIIIn
Oosterbeek: Classified

82nd
Nijmengen: On the Dyke road leading from the SE corner of town 82nd units take on a pair of SiG33's and a StugH42! No kills. The the west I control most of the city edge and throw out a couple Inf units and run right into a Stug head on!
Groosbeek: I think I own the town and advance to Nijmengen from the east.
Grave: Only a few traped German units remain and I now control both ends of the bridge.

101st
Veghal: More firefights as we both struggle for the town. At the un-named bridge I run into more Germans and continue to fight for the Bridge.
Eindhevon: Nasty inner city fighting. I still do not control the town!

XXX Corps: A crawl and to boot two Big Guns take out 2 M4s! I am in trouble! Arty is called!

Hawk -> Defend!!!!!!!!! (2/4/2003 9:36:09 AM)

XXX Corps: My men continue to slow them up.....M4's burn in the Distance. The only problem is when we kill one of these Tanks another one pops up to take it's place...:( My Grenadiers are slowly being pushed back...They continue to hold the road..a Medal will be presented to the Lt. who setupped the 88'mm Guns. It's a perfect kill zone.....The orders to thes brave men "Buy us more time"

Eindhevon: There is massive pressure from the 101st. They charge well defended houses with great courage. We continue to hold the Center and Southern parts of the town.....House to House is the order.

Vegahl: This small town is holding strong thanks to the support of some SdKFz 251's...We continue to hold the 101st to the small canal. It is vital that i hold this town.

The town of Grave is desperate. Elements of the 82nd continue to filter into town..:(...from the bridge and the South.....i fear my brave men won't be able to hold out much longer without reinforcements....

Nijmegen: The city just received much needed reinforcements. The SS Panzer Battlion was on R&R from the Russian Front. These brave men did not say one ill word about their task before them. They climbed into their Tanks and went foward. I control the bridge,Center,and Sothern parts of the city.....not much movement for now.

Arnhem: Is the staging ground for the Reinforcements. The British continue to hold the Northern end of the bridge. My men are slowly working their way . House to house.....Artillery is being called forth......We recieved news that these men are being commanded by a one Frost.....a surrender demand is being written up as i report....

More More More....Jess
:D :D :D

M4Jess -> (2/5/2003 9:30:36 AM)

Allied turn 6

British Airborne
Arnhem: Sgt. Gifford and a squad of 6 men sneak through the woods adjacent to a stone and brick house a few hundred yards from the bridge...they know a German panzer is there..some-where....Gifford spots the beast!..a MkIIIn..the Panzer commander is looking toward the north? could this be a good sign? The British AB troops are worn out..is the panzer commander watching out for British AB reinforcements? No need to worry about that now..., Gifford pulls the pin....and just walks up to the Panzer...and as he
kicks a cooking pot laying in the street the Panzer commander turns around..it was his last sight..as the Panzer commanders body slumps back into the bulk of the MkIIIn, Gifford tosses in the TNT charge...well you know the rest....
In the rest of the city small fire fights as the hated SS try to evaluate the true situation.

Oosterbeek: Classified

82nd
Nijmengen/Groosbeek: Mostly classified..I chase back more Inf in the west part of town and come to the point of decision..take the bridge from a frontal assault..or cross the river and take it from the rear?...Where are those panzers I spotted on the dyke??

Grave: Mop up action..I have Hawk by the short hairs.

101st
Veghal: More firefights as we both struggle for the town.

Eindhevon: The un-named bridge is mine! The town fight goes on and units from Grave start to move south to link up!

XXX Corps: Still a crawl! More tanks die..on the up-note..I kill back as a Cromwell blast a MkIII , I will make it!

Arty called in!

Hawk -> Hold The Line!!!! (2/10/2003 3:46:03 AM)

XXX Corps. We contiue to hold this Mighty Corps to a couple of FEET!!! ......... We continue to hold them from hooking up with Eindhevon!!!
We are useing "Hit and Run " Tactics.

Eindhevon: There is brutal "House to House" fighting going on to the South. The 101st. is slowly making Progress. But might i say again SLOWLY....
The small town of Veghal (Just north of Eindhevon) is continuing to hold . Despite numerous assualts from the West by the 101st.

The town of Grave is under serious threat of falling to the Allieds. They continue to cross the small bridge. My men are sharpening their Bayonets.

Nijmegen: We have located the 82nd in the southern end of town. Armour support has been called in to take care of these "Devil's in Baggy Pants"....My Tanks are serving up eviction notices to these men. My SS infantry are close to add support.

Arnhem: British paras have been located west of the City . They are trying to hook up with the Bridge elements i guess. Reniforcements are arriving by the Hour. I tried to see the strength across the bridge. So some of my Recon units crossed. We found stiff resistance. But Valueable info.
I am prepared to wipe out these Men

M4Jess -> (2/10/2003 5:11:51 AM)

Allied turn 7

British Airborne

Arnhem: SS Recon "tried" to cross the bridge..well you know the rest..but if not..they died dead! The Brits also took out a SS Armored car and chased away a few SS inf SQ's. The Bridge is reinforced!

Oosterbeek: Classified

82nd

Groosbeek: Units of the 82nd close on Nijmengen from the east and take out a SiG33 on the way.

Nijmengen: Panzers! on the east and west side of the city! 3 die from "stove pipes" and more are wounded! The 82nd close's in on all sides! The question remains...take the bridge from 1 end or 2?

Grave: The American 82nd owns it! They clear out most of the remaining Germans and the only threat is a pair of Ger. HTs on the SW corner of the town, but 2 HTs will never take away the small town and bridge from 150+ pissed off US AB men!

101st

Veghal: Awwww--- The Germans are winning the battle...but not for long! I can see a link up coming from the 82nd north at Grave and the south from Eindhevon.

Eindhevon: The 101st re-groups and gets ready to clear the remaining defenders, and heads north to link up with the 82nd.

XXX Corps: Still a crawl! But now making headway as I spot one of the 88s in some woods and call in Sextons to deal with it!

Arty called in!

Hawk -> "Hello let me get Berlin Pleaseeeeee!! (2/10/2003 9:09:26 AM)

XXX Corps:
The British are starting to make alittle headway. They managed to knock out one of my prize 88's..... We continue to hold them to a snail's pace.

Eindhevon: Manage to displace some of the101st camping in the West of town...It appears my men are holding their own...

Veghal: This small town continues to hold on despite Grave falling. I fear that the paras will try to come on down and take my strong hold!!!!

Grave: Has fallen to the Enemy.

Nijmegen : There is bitter fighting on the Western and now Eastren parts of the City. More reinfordements pour into the City.....Streets are being setup like small outposts....waitng for the "82nd"

Arnhem: It would appear that a sizeable British force is occuppying
Oosterbeek...We have seen these paras trying to link up withthe bridge force......Men are being dispacthed to handle these intruders...... Reinforcements continue to show up!!!
