Tancrede -> A wish from an old "Harpooner" (1/4/2014 9:32:14 AM)

First, I must said that I do really love that simulation. I am literally glue to it. Thanks to the entire team for the work they did to bring such a product to life. But as an old "Harpooner", I must admit that one wish is left with Command. It is about the formation editor. It is clear that I do miss the one from Harpoon where you could precisely position your ships and create very accurate patrol missions, in terms of how to position your assets (usually helicopters) relative to te group's main body. Anyone else with such a wish or am I the only one to complain ?

The formation editor allows you to that, and a lot more (setting up patrols, positions with relative and/or fixed bearings within the formation).
I felt that it was a bit clunky at first, but that was because it offers more in terms of fidelity (for examples when operating in coastal areas) than the more simplistic editor encountered in Harpoon. I created a small test scenario and manoeuvred around different platforms for a while and soon got the hang of it.

Hi

Take a look at the making reference relative to groups and units feature. This allows you to create missions that move along with groups.

In other words, "Yes," it's just that in Command you have to set it up a bit differently...the formation is literally a formation; any special patrols have to be set up independently, even though (via the relative reference points), it will move with the formation as if it were part of it.
