IWS -> Request: SOSUS import? (1/11/2014 3:27:41 AM)

Apologies if this has been addressed earlier, I searched the forums but found little. Request: For both CWDB (60s and onwards) and DB3000 it would be very useful to have a SOSUS import for both sensors and associated base stations. This is an essential element of any Atlantic cold war scenario. I can add both elements, but have no idea how to add them them to simulate how effective those sensors were in the cold war. In game terms, each SOSUS sensor has a theoretical max range of 1000nm. OK. To produce realistic detection rates, do I just add one sensor in the Greenland-Iceland gap, or several? How many? Probability theory says that matters lots, in game terms. 1 sensor at 50% = 50% 10 sensors at 50% = 99.9% (depending on how the engine actually models sensors) To produce "realistic" detection rates, how many sensors should be emplaced? How many base stations are needed to support them? How many backup base stations were actually in place? An import based on your best guesses would be extremely useful for cold war and more modern scenarios. PS Known or speculative IUSS (Integrated Undersea Surveillance System) locations post-cold war would also be very useful too. I rather suspect the US has emplaced sensors in SE Asia over the last few years... PPS Someday (maybe not today) you will need a search feature for imports. This is a good thing. Thanks much,
