I heard that using the "remain on station" would hamper the combat effectiveness of submarines, is it true? what's the exact consequence of remain on station? Detection Level stop to drop? less possible to launch an attack?

best to leave on patrol and in a small area. Leave on station just means it won't react. Always better if they have a one hex react unless near dangers.

From what I notice, remain on station intercept ship and use fuel. A single Patrol point intercept ship and don't use fuel. Perhaps Patrol is more like a ambush and remain on station a research. Although multiple patrol point use fuel and I never see a single sub react to intercept.

Just don't use ROS. Always patrol with a one hex react. But caution a sub will on occasion react into an enemy minefield.

She will just sit in place and watch the action go by.[:D] Patrol zone, always patrol zone.
