Most or all (did not check all torpedos) have the wrong range.
For example, the MK48 Mod5 ADCAP torpedo has a range of 6nm (in database viewer and range circle in game) but it runs quite longer - as long as it should run. In the database viewer it says "flight time" 32,4min and the speed is 65kts. So it should have a range of 35,1nm. Same with many many other (or even all) torpedos.

There is another topic somewhere that has discussed this fully, the reason given for the shorter ranges is that this is the range they will be fired at rather than the range they can be fired at. It prevents the AI emptying tubes against something it will never hit, forcing it to come close and take more realistic shots.

ok I understand that but some torps have five times the range of what now is usable.

You can BOL fire the weapons beyond out to their real range.

If you have a specific issue with a torp let us know what it is and we'll take a look.

Thanks!

just reading this, and realizing that I don't know anything beyond what the range circles tell me... No if their is another Mode to attack things farther out some sort of hint at its presence would be great(if this is just a torpedo thing, maybe have two types of submarine weapon rangelines?). Although some sort of note on its effectiveness would be helpful too.
