celebrindal -> Africa supply bug (1/24/2014 6:01:12 PM)

Shouldn't I be in supply as the germans?

Italy isn't at war with the CW.

Centuur -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/24/2014 6:34:09 PM)

Yes, it's a known bug.

joshuamnave -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/24/2014 6:44:30 PM)

No, you shouldn't be in supply. There is a known bug that would stop supply from flowing if it was supposed to, but in this case it's the rules, not the bug, that's preventing it.

Germany can trace supply through an Italian Convoy, but if that CP is in a sea zone occupied by a country at war with Germany but not at war with Italy, as in this case, then supply can't be traced through the convoy.

It's RAC 2.4.2, p 16. Under SiF option 11, look at the italicized clarification text box.

paulderynck -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/24/2014 6:57:00 PM)

The original intent when that rule was erratacised <apparently that word has just been newly added to the English language> was to prevent gamey abuses with using allied countries (not at war with supply recipient's enemy) CPs for supply.

But in the Errata you needed the same forces that prevent basic supply i.e. SCS, CV, A2S (in operating weather for the A2S) to cut the neutral CP ability. I just checked RAC and it says the same - so a CW CP shouldn't cut the supply and I don't see other Allied units out there.

Still there's info lacking. Can supply be traced through the Italian Coast sea zone? Who controls the ports in southern France (besides Marseilles) and can supply be traced (what's the weather?) from them to a primary or secondary source for Germany?

Edit - might not have been Errata, might have been FAQ, don't remember but it amounts to the same thing

Centuur -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/24/2014 7:00:27 PM)

There are Axis TRS in the sea area, so whether or not Limited overseas supply is on, those units should be in supply. You need CP or TRS or AMPH when playing with overseas supply.

The fact that the Italians aren't at war with the CW would only matter, if there is a CW controlled SCS, CV or aircraft with an air to sea factor in the area (read the clarification agian please). A CP isn't a SCS...

joshuamnave -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/24/2014 7:22:48 PM)

I didn't misread the clarification, I misread the screenshot. Didn't notice the only CW unit was a CP. Apologies.

In that case, it does appear to be the overseas supply bug. Currently, when using LOS, Germany can only run a NAF campaign if it manages to get its own CP's into the Med. Until/unless Gibraltar falls, the only way I know of to do that is to align Yugoslavia as Germany and place 1 cp per turn in Yugo as a reinforcement. It also makes US play in NAF more challenging, although they can more realistically send their own CP's to the region.

celebrindal - please post a saved game

celebrindal -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/24/2014 9:30:35 PM)

We are playing with 1.07... was holding off upgrading. Will the supply issue be fixed with 1.1.1?

And I agree with Peter's assessment, that's why I thought I was in supply.

As for questions regarding the coast and such, yes Italy's coast is good for tracing supply and the Italians own the french ports in the south, I do have a supply path from the port via France as well as obviously through Italy itself.

celebrindal -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/25/2014 5:53:22 PM)

Here is the file.

I upgraded to 1.1.1 and it was still broken.
Did a turn and have the CW convoy's leave the sea zone... put another german air point in the sea area.. nada.. the units on the coast on ports stay out of supply.

Only thing I haven't done is move an Italian HQ over but I shouldn't have to...

This is pretty much going to halt the germans in this game unless someone else can suggest something.

Thanks.

celebrindal -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/26/2014 3:57:37 PM)

Anyone have suggestions on how to get around this or is our game at a halt until the supply bug is fixed?

paulderynck -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/26/2014 6:13:52 PM)

I did try DoWing the CW with Italy to see if it was something to do with Multiple States of War, but that didn't help.

You could see if an Italian HQ in Africa in supply range of a German unit would help. Other than trying that (which I didn't), it looks like the Germans will be OOS until this bug is fixed.

celebrindal -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/27/2014 12:36:31 PM)

Ok thanks to my partner in crime, we figured out a way to get the Africa stuff into supply.

If we move a german HQ to one of the port cities in the Med it seems to provide supply.

HQ on the coast, or Italian hq on a port don't do it.

The only way is a german HQ..

markb50k -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/27/2014 1:58:30 PM)

That's good to see there is a workaroud, but a question: What about a German HQ in North Africa. I am reaching the point in my game where I may need to put some German troops in Africa and I want to know my options.

Thanks!

Feel free to download the attachment and play around with it if you'd like.

Best way would be to rail an hq to the port, end the turn and then next turn take one over...

WarHunter -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/27/2014 5:30:48 PM)

Looking forward to this bug getting fixed.

Majorball68 -> RE: Africa supply bug (1/27/2014 7:34:33 PM)

I tested this when the German unit was in Supply in Africa. I couldnt figure out why one turn it was in supply and on another it was not. I discovered that when it was in supply it was using the rail to morocco, then it was using the sea path out via the central atlantic round the north of the UK to Kiel. I dont use limited overseas supply so I came to the conclusion that when the CW deployed ships to the North Sea it broke the sea link to Kiel. Have no idea why it just didnt trace the same path as the Italians through the med!

cdebasso -> RE: Africa supply bug (2/2/2014 2:00:46 PM)

More on Africa supply problems: I have a situation where the Italians have a transport and a CONV in the Eastern Med, both sides have SCS in the Eastern Med, the weather is fine, Yugoslavia and Greece have been conquered, there is an Italian HQ next to the Libyan ports and a German HQ in Salonica, yet the German and Italian units in Libya are out of supply. Only the Libyan TERR is in supply - it traces overseas supply to Tripoli. But the other units, for some unknown reason, cannot trace overseas supply through Greece. I can only get them in supply by placing a CONV in the Italian Coast in order to trace overseas supply to Italy. See the attached game.

Clearly a supply bug. [:(]

Shannon V. OKeets -> RE: Africa supply bug (2/2/2014 6:43:43 PM)

I'm working on the Japanese in Manchuria/China and Germans in North Africa Supply bugs today. It will probably take me several days to figure these out and fix them.

Thanks for the saved games.[&o][&o]
