RobW -> Map Printing (1/30/2003 6:59:08 PM)

Hi all, I am looking at my method of play and, at the moment, am starting at the very beginning (a very good place to start I hear you all sing!)....

I have identified my purchasing policy is a little 1 dimensional. A lot could be done to improve it I am sure -has anyone created a top tips for this (like the ones for armour use and artillery use). Secondary to this, is there a way I can print the map out in a way that can be used to identify tactics/plot moves etc? This may help me when purchasing...

thanks guys
RobW

Many people use Hypersnap to grab screen shots and I guess if you backed the view up as far as you can you could do a screen capture of that. Course when you're dealing with the larger maps it gets a bit more tricky since it won't all fit in one screen shot.
It's available here:

http://www.hyperionics.com/hsdx/

The free version super imposes a hypersnap banner over the shot where the purchased version does not. Hope this helps some.

;)

here is a link that explains it a little better.

As long as it is not a secure email game, you can use mapthing, which is a utility to create a .pdf file of the map that you can print out. Some graphics are kind of different, but you get the gist of the map. It is in a subdirectory of your spwaw installation. It is in the 7.1 install and may be in some of the earlier ones as well.
thanks, John.

I haven't tried that, but I will now. Learn something new every day here.
Thanks

mlomax -> MAPTHING (2/1/2003 4:24:51 AM)

I have used mapthing a couple of times and it actually prints out a decent map. The only problem that I have had is making it a little bit bigger when printing it out. Does anyone have any ideas on this? I would like to try and get the full battle effect, such as marking down enemy positions and so on. Any one with a little military experience can understand what I mean.

If mapthing exports / saves / prints the map as a .pdf file, can you save it before printing? If so, you should then be able to load the .pdf file into the Adobe Acrobat Reader which has an "Expand small pages to paper size" option in its Print dialog box. That might get you a bigger map printout.

HTH,
