Havelock -> [NO REPRO] Crash .... (2/6/2014 9:06:28 AM)

This look similar to the type of crash in a few other threads ...

I got the game a few days ago - installed the 1.02 and B486(?) updates and played away.

This morning I installed the B488 update and got the attached crash message. It happens in any scenario when I click on the grey area to the right of the map. (In this case to see what the composition of the Norwegian destroyer group is).

I checked my installation of Direct X (11) and .Net (4.5.1) - still crash. I deleted the game entirely and reinstalled. Still get the crash :( (even with the default 1.00 version and 1.02 versions that worked before).

Any ideas?

Byron

Very sorry this happened Byron we are looking at these issues with 488.

Thanks!

Mike

No worries and thanks for looking into it.

One thing that came up in another thread is that my copy of UIAutomationCore.dll had been removed to try and increase the stability of Flightsim (FSX) - could that be an issue?

Dimitris -> RE: Crash .... (2/7/2014 5:25:18 AM)

Very possibly. Could you please add it back in, reboot and retry?

Havelock -> RE: Crash .... (2/7/2014 7:24:07 AM)

All done - copied Uiautomationcore.dll and uiautomationcore64.dll into the Command directory and rebooted - but still the same problem (and it was working fine until I updated to 488).

Boo. [:(]

Dimitris -> RE: Crash .... (2/7/2014 7:32:11 AM)

Can you please re-install .NET 4.5 ?

Havelock -> RE: Crash .... (2/7/2014 8:17:47 AM)

Tried using the file in the prerequisites directory, but it declined as I had a newer version installed. (Last night I installed 4.5.1 direct from the Microsoft website).

Also tried reinstalling DirectX 9.whatever from the same directory, all went fine although I think my system is up to DirectX 11 now.

All to no good.

The game runs fine - initially - it's just when trying to click on any of the buttons (Sensor, weapon, etc) in the right-hand-side column it gives me the earlier error message. This started when I installed 488, but when I reinstalled from scratch it then did it from the default install. But I haven't (or hadn't) touched another file apart from installing 488.

Bit stuck now .... I suppose I could try reinstalling windows, but I'd rather not!

Cheers,

Byron

Can you please revert to B486 while we troubleshoot this issue? Thanks!

Havelock -> RE: Crash .... (2/7/2014 8:53:35 AM)

Done - but it still doesn't work. Obviously this makes me think that there is some cock-up in my system. Just can't imagine what, I've got the latest .Net, the latest DirectX, UIautomation thingamijig in the directory ...

*sigh* back to work on Monday and my gaming time decreases significantly.

Going to try installing a new version of windows on my MacBook via Basecamp (rather than on my desktop) - see what happens there.

ComDev -> RE: Crash .... (2/11/2014 6:38:54 AM)

Does it crash with B490?

Havelock -> RE: Crash .... (2/11/2014 8:11:21 AM)

Will try this evening.

Cheers,

Byron

Dimitris -> RE: Crash .... (2/18/2014 8:04:10 PM)

Any feedback on this?

Havelock -> RE: Crash .... (2/20/2014 11:49:38 AM)

Sadly not. As some point, something must have changed.

The good news is that I have got the game up and running on my bootcamped MacBook.

The annoying thing is that a large dose of real life has meant no time in the last few days to actually use it.

5 hour flight to Singapore tomorrow though - may get a chance then (if I avoid reading the documents I should be reading)
