What are the pros and cons of Japan attacking NEI during the same impulse that Germany DOW on Netherlands?

This would give Japan all four oil resources and perhaps deny the CW those convoy markers.

Thanks.

While the obvious access to extra oil, and denying the CW are there.. The use entry hit is so bad you'd be shooting yourself.

USE - 28 for dow CW or Netherlands so that's 2 almost 3 chits right off the hop.

Plus.. and this is the nasty part. The US would draw an extra chit a turn for the rest of the game.

So if you think that the oil is worth having the US in at least a year early....

There is a major Dutch port available in the Caribbean to put the convoy points in. So if the Japanese DoW the Netherland in the same impulse as Germany does, that's where the convoys will go, together with the TRS...

It sure is a madcap scheme if done prior to 1941.
The path to victory will probably end in a detour to separate bunkers if done to early.

Its not so krazy if done in 1941/1942. If you have separate axis European players, be sure they are on-board for the timing.

The conv points will always go Allied.

Japan also has to DoW the Netherlands, they can't DoW NEI by itself. And that's a big US entry hit since they'll also have to DoW the CW at some point. If Germany waits until l941, Belgium is more difficult to take.

The CPs can be placed in Dutch Guyana.

It is a very good way to go in the second half of 1941 or even better, the first half of 1942. Requires good tactics and strong nerves on the part of the Germans in 1940. But not impossible at all.
