jufinace20 -> Dumb Question (2/12/2014 9:51:36 AM)

Dear All,

How do I make some fast mover to drop its ordnance (dumb bombs) at a given location irrespective of any enemy units being there?

Thanks

Tomcat84 -> RE: Dumb Question (2/12/2014 10:38:27 AM)

Good question. I'm not sure if it's possible. I tried with an F-16 loaded with Mk82s to do a Bearing Only attack (Ctrl F1) but it says weapon is not BOL capable.

Not sure how else it would be possible.

Maromak -> RE: Dumb Question (2/12/2014 10:38:44 AM)

Hi. Command does not have this function although it has previously been discussed.

jufinace20 -> RE: Dumb Question (2/12/2014 11:34:32 AM)

Thanks,

Its a real pity because dumb bombs need dumb targeting.
I also tried the BOL command, targeting vector appears, but no consistent behavior on the Mk82 usage...

Dumb bombs are not guided weapons in the game and do suffer the appropriate CEP penalties. Take a look at the game log.

Why do you want to drop them on anything but a target?

Jakob Wedman -> RE: Dumb Question (2/12/2014 2:00:40 PM)

jufinace20 has a point. If you suspects that there is targets you could drop some dumb bombs. Would it be possible to use RP:s as targets?

Dimitris -> RE: Dumb Question (2/12/2014 2:05:08 PM)

Quite difficult. It would be easier to allow unguided weapons to be "BOL"-fired on the point the player clicks on the map.

jufinace20 -> RE: Dumb Question (2/12/2014 4:48:31 PM)

I would find such a solution quite acceptable. For CW scenarios (e.g. Vietnam) the enemy is very elusive during the game. Imagine a Arc Light raid, the buffers will never perceive a VC unit unless you plant a spotter under their noses, and even so I would bet that they wont attack it reliably. But I will have to check...

jufinace20 -> RE: Dumb Question (2/12/2014 4:51:31 PM)

The problem is about the bomber dropping the bombs at all. No one care about precision. The guys back in DC only want statistics, effectiveness is not a subject. Zeitgeist & Rand Corp.[8D]

Dropping weapons on a coordinate is currently not possible but is planned for the Advanced Strike Mission Editor [8D]
