Is that really "now"? I don't think there's enough snow. That looks like summer in Alaska. [:D]

Amazing how good it looks after all these years.

It's not too cold there, even now i the middle of winter. Just a lot of wind, big swells and supposedly really thick fog.

I can tell you (from the grass and general look of other things) that it is not 2 or 3 degrees Celsius in that picture. I get that they're on an island and it's not going to hit really arctic temperatures at that point, but...

I was just being silly, carry on.

That doesn't look THAT sturdy in the first place.

What was the safe dive limit on them ?

jcjordan -> RE: OT - Then and now - Japanese midget subs (2/14/2014 4:32:00 AM)

You'd think it would have been removed for scrap some years ago

AS to dive depth, roughly 100ft or so

czert2 -> RE: OT - Then and now - Japanese midget subs (2/15/2014 8:34:59 PM)

and how they got there in first place ?

It's amazing how little has changed. The holes are basically the same size...even the metal around the shell holes is still bent at exactly the same angles. Even the hole near the nose end is still just barely visible above the turf. You know that railway dolly is still there, rusting away beneath the soil.
