Assaultgdw -> Tigers in Stalingrad...realy now? (2/15/2014 6:11:24 PM)

I was just wondering what the rationale was to put Tigers in a Stalingrad game since there weren't any ( maybe you were confusing Stalingrad with Leningrad where the first production batch of about a dozen or so have been sent) ... besides there was no SS around...the Leibstandarte was moved to the West( if im not mistaken to Belgium) before the encirclement.

just wondering ( and then again you history buffs will prove me wrong)

Also a little suggestion. I would love a button to turn of the rally talk since i find them annoying.
Sorry i just dont think that stereotypes are funny....

Greetings

Stephan

Did the tiger 1 tank take part in the Battle of Stalingrad?Click arrows to navigate
Yes, 160 Tiger I tanks were in Battle of Stalingrad, all had belong to the 4th

I think what you might be confused with is King Tiger Tanks....I couldn't find anything on those being there.

SS in Stalingrad??

Not sure this game is really aimed at history buffs or grogs.

Auchinleck -> RE: Tigers in Stalingrad...realy now? (2/15/2014 7:46:46 PM)

The Konigstiger (Bengal Tiger) or King Tiger tank, was not introduced to the Eastern front until September of 1944. They first appeared on the Western front in Normandy in July of 1944. Only 492 were produced from mid 1944 to the end of the war. Not enough to turn the tide of the war in favor of Germany.

I agree with you.
When playing Scenario with SS in Stalingrad, you've just to think it's another big city, Kharkov in 1943 for example.

fentum -> RE: Tigers in Stalingrad...realy now? (2/15/2014 8:00:22 PM)

Never mind the Tigers, bring in the ZOMBIES from Lock n Load : All Things Zombie. [sm=00000023.gif][sm=00000023.gif]

RockKahn -> RE: Tigers in Stalingrad...realy now? (2/15/2014 8:06:11 PM)

Mark Walker has said elsewhere before the release that there are counters in the game that weren't at Stalingrad. You going to believe him, now?

A workaround would be not to play those scenarios with SS and Tigers in them. [:D]

markhwalker -> RE: Tigers in Stalingrad...realy now? (2/15/2014 9:18:24 PM)

There are no SS or Tigers in the campaign scenarios.

Big lols. Are there lots of MG42's as well...

Capitaine -> RE: Tigers in Stalingrad...realy now? (2/15/2014 9:22:37 PM)

Yes, I gathered that only the campaigns are strictly Stalingrad. Not a problem to me.

aaatoysandmore -> RE: Tigers in Stalingrad...realy now? (2/15/2014 9:30:02 PM)

All things being what they are it still brings memories of history and WWII to mind. That should be the point in the first place, not whether there were tigers at stalingrad or not. Adds a bit of flavor to the game/show. [;)]

e_barkmann -> RE: Tigers in Stalingrad...realy now? (2/15/2014 9:41:02 PM)

Then why have Stalingrad in the title at all. If you're going to have tigers, commissars, MG-42's (ok perhaps there were half a dozen MG-42's that reached the Volga) and SS (srsly?!) perhaps the title needs a rethink. I also take offence when the author describes the game as "incredibly realistic" and "real life" in that context .... :-)

Edit: Having read the game description, that mentions the additional Not one step Back scenarios, I have softened my stance. Carry on chaps!

cheers

I don't. Never give it a 2nd thought. That's not what is important about a game to me whether it's realistic or historical or about life. Only thing ever important to me is AI and challenging. The germans could wear PINK for all I care. [:D]

JD Smith43 -> RE: Tigers in Stalingrad...realy now? (2/16/2014 5:46:21 AM)

I just see it as 'somewhere on the Eastern Front' and go on. For a company-level operation, it really makes no difference what city you're fighting in. The memoir Blood Red Snow, of a German machine-gunner during & after the Stalingrad campaign certainly makes that clear. He was never really sure where he was in terms of Russia. He was just a kid behind a MG-34 (later, MG 42), soldiering on.

why then give a scenario description saying Stalingrad in the first place? Seems a bit silly to me....

If you have problem with the title, consider this scenario as a "What If".

Pretty sure the original Battle of the Bulge boardgame from Avalon Hill had pink German counters. Don't have my copy of it any longer to confirm that.

In the origional Stalingrad game from Avalon Hill the russians were pink. AH had a thing for pink back then. That's why I said I didn't care if the germans wore pink. [:'(]

I need say that is the first time i see someboyd complainig about have more content in a game... if you have extra unit and you can use them in what if scenarios... where is the problem???

And not only what if, you can use HOS to create custom scens to cover 1943, 1944, 1945 and i dont know if game has early vehicles but scens covering 1941 is something bad???

I am interested in the game and follow it with great interest, know that you have tigers if you want use them for me is a great bonus.

PD: somebody can post the list of equipment that has the game???? thanks.
