Attack Condor -> A lifetime of boredom, interspersed with moments of sheer terror.... (4/26/2003 9:59:51 AM)

An apt quotation, as for almost a week, the only combat to report has been the mine hit on the IJN light cruiser Jintsu. I rather doubt the damage amounted to more than scratched paint on a combat ship, but I'll take anything now that doesn't put Allied forces in harm's way.

Every aircraft capable is now running ASW operations in both theaters. A multitude of SCs protect my main harbors at Noumea and Luganville.

SBDs cover the approach to Luganville, and Wunpuko is rapidly becoming the fightertown I envisoned for Port Moresby so long ago.

Australia is secure. If the IJN commander wants to sail to the Barrier Reef, then come get some :).

In the SOPAC area, submarines are numerous enough that and IJN traffic will be checking almost each hex it traverses. It only takes one to get lucky........

The Seabees have landed.

The 1st Marine division, complete with HQ and support units is in place.

Transport vessels are in place.

Airpower is in place.

Operation Pebbles nears.

Maps and plans will be declassified soon.

More to come....

Luganville continues to add to its defenses, and stockpile fuel and supplies

Yes, the Empire has retaken all of New Guinea, and, apparently, New Zealand as well. Our troops occupy Port Moresby, Gili Gili, and Wellington.

We are rushing now to reinforce our bases in the Solomons. Condor-san has been very quiet the past few turns, which can only mean that he plans to invade something. We hope he tries to do so! The Americans play into our hands if they try offensive operations this early.

As for our plans, they remain classified. Suffice it to say that certain Allied countries had better start learning Japanese soon. Hai! Hai! Banzai!

Grotius-san.

Attack Condor -> For want of a bullet...... (5/1/2003 8:23:40 PM)

With Luganville at >100K supplies, I can start to think about 4E bombing of the IJN forward bases. Unfortunately, having been in training is not the same as being in live combat, as our heroes can attest to:

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/24/42

Weather: Partly Cloudy

Air attack on Irau , at 42,43

Allied aircraft
PBY Catalina x 3
B-17E Fortress x 7

Allied aircraft losses
PBY Catalina x 2 damaged
B-17E Fortress x 4 damaged

Attacking Level Bombers:
3 x B-17E Fortress at 10000 feet
4 x B-17E Fortress at 10000 feet

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No losses, but damaged big birds take a while to heal up.

In other news, the summer crop of mines planted in June and the early part of July are starting to bear fruit. First the light cruiser Jintsu and now the destroyer Kazegumo which was hit last night in PM harbor :). Kazegumo apparently was part of a PC/DD group - each of whom was able to "locate and destroy" a mine. I'm sure the IJN commander will appropiately honor and reward the commander of the Kazegumo for his innovative approach to destroying mines with his hull, thereby saving the Empire precious rifle ammunition.

As to whether I plan to invade something, the answer is yes. Whether it is Irau, PM (again) or the peacful sleep of the IJN commander is yet to be revealed :D.

As to learning a new language, as a public service for the reindoctrination of our IJN foes into world dominated by the Allies, your word for today is "capitalism".

Say it slowly: "Cap - it - al - ism"

You'll learn to love it ;)

More to come....

Well, it comes as no surprise to hear that Condor-san plans to invade something again. If the Americans do invade Irau, or PM, Lunga, or anything else, we shall respond with overwhelming force. Massive reinforcements to forward bases are already on the way.

In the meantime, the still-classified Operation Fuji progresses nicely.

Tell me about it! Wellington is over run with them! I am taking the family and heading for the hills (wish me luck). Noticed a couple, being a military officiando, with the new Semi automatic Nikon FS352 - get through a roll in 2.35 secs apparently.
