JohnO -> TF1-36IN BN (2/22/2014 3:58:07 PM)

This is the OOB for my TF1-36IN BN that will be used in my scenarios and campaign. I wanted to try and name the vehicles. Let me know if this is a good idea or not.

CapnDarwin -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (2/22/2014 4:09:55 PM)

John, should not be a problem to name them as long as it works.

JohnO -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (2/22/2014 4:34:29 PM)

Yep, it works. Adding B/4-67AR to the TF.

Mad Russian -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (2/22/2014 5:53:50 PM)

And once you have done a core OOB like that you have the makings of a campaign.

I take a unit and put the OOB together in the map and then start adding scenarios with it being the core unit. The game will keep track of your losses for you so all you have to is add the enemy forces and the support for the next battle in line. What you will sometimes get a surprise with is the time of day. That depends on the losses you take and your reorganization and resupply times. I hate it when I think the next battle will be in daylight and I have CAS only to find I pushed the time into the dark.

Good Hunting.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (2/23/2014 10:51:23 AM)

I was trying to do a graphic like layout of the OOB myself but jusy with the generic vehicle/units names. Your's looks much better. [:)]

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/21/2014 11:28:04 PM)

Now that I'm back and feeling a lot better after surgery and with a major brain fart on how to work on the American User spreadsheet and after sending a message to Capn Darwin.

I have been working again on my campaign that I was working on back when this great game came out.

As you can see on the screenshot, I name the unit vehicles, for example CDR, XO, 1SG, PL and so on. I like to give the vehicles and units an identity to them.

Once I finished naming the vehicles and units, I will start to work on the Sqd infantry symbols from white to blue as it should be.

Seems I can't post screenshots until after my tenth post [:D]

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/26/2014 2:00:01 AM)

Everything is coming along very well on the TF 1-36 Campaign. but I do have a question about the custom silhouettes ? I have a M113 silhouette that I would like to have the medic cross on the side of it. I'm not a graphics artist, is there somebody who can help with that?

I would like to have it on the side of the M577 as well. I will supply the silhouettes.

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/26/2014 3:59:58 AM)

I need some help on creating a company. What I'm trying to create is an Engineer Company.

The part I'm having problem is what to use for the Tag of an Engineer Company? What I was trying to use %C/ seems to not work. Any idea on what I can use?

Engineer Company USN24 %C/ USN25, USN26, USN27
>Company HQ USN25 CHQ US53D, US53E, US43A, US212A
>Platoon HQ USN26 PHQ US53A, US53B
>Engineer Section USN27 %d/ US43C, US102A

Plodder -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/26/2014 5:16:00 AM)

In what way isn't it working? "%C" will give a capital letter as it's designation while "%d" gives a number.However, a tag will only work if the unit is a subunit of another unit as defined in the data file, not in the editor itself. If you created your Eng coy as it is now in the editor, it would ask you for a unit name so the tag in this case is irrelevant.

Also did you realise that you need to define a platoon? I'll give you an example below: (I'm also adding 3 platoons to the coy, and 3 sections per platoon for examples)
Description Code	Tag	Composition ( Tags = 1A1/BR or RG name)
Engineer Company            USN24       %C/     USN25, USN25A*3
>Company HQ                 USN25       CHQ     US53D, US53E, US43A, US212A
>Engineer Platoon           USN25A      %d/     USN26, USN27*3
>>Platoon HQ                USN26       PHQ     US53A, US53B
>>Engineer Section          USN27       %d/     US43C, US102A

To give an example of what the tags do; if you gave the coy the name 42ENG when you created it in the scenario editor, in the oob viewer it would look similar to this: (I've added the subunit descriptions to where they are in the oob)
CHQ 42ENG <----Company HQ
 |
 | -PHQ 1/42ENG <----Platoon HQ
 |    |-1/1/42ENG <----Engineer Section
 |    |-2/1/42ENG
 |    |-3/1/42ENG
 |               -----
 | -PHQ 2/42ENG       |
 |    |-1/2/42ENG     |---Engineer Platoon
 |    |-2/2/42ENG     |
 |    |-3/2/42ENG     |
 |               -----
 | -PHQ 3/42ENG
      |-1/3/42ENG
      |-2/3/42ENG
      |-3/3/42ENG

The "%d/" tags will give you sequential numbers for each sub unit.

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/26/2014 1:43:36 PM)

Thanks, Plodder. I see what I did wrong, looking at your example. Wasn't sure on the use of the symbol > and >>

>Engineer Platoon USN25A %d/ USN26, USN27*3
>>Platoon HQ USN26 PHQ US53A, US53B
>>Engineer Section USN27 %d/ US43C, US102A

CapnDarwin -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/26/2014 3:03:52 PM)

The > and >> are cosmetic in the list to show a step inward in the formation breakdown. They themselves do not control any code. That is all in the formation strings and callouts.

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/26/2014 3:36:14 PM)

Crap, I'm still having problems. If I can't fix it, can I send the excel spreadsheet to one of you guys to take a look at it and see what I'm doing wrong with it.

CapnDarwin -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/26/2014 4:19:13 PM)

John, send it my way and I will check it out after lunch.

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/26/2014 11:08:48 PM)

Message sent with the spreadsheet.

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/28/2014 4:27:24 AM)

This is about the stupidest thing I have seen so far from a Matrix Forum. I am not a happy camper when it comes to Matrix site.

More anti-spam countermeasures. Joy. [:(]

Just email me directly John.

Makes no sense.

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/29/2014 5:06:31 PM)

I'm testing out my scenario and was wondering about why some of the units are moving on their own? is it because of double stack on units in one area and they are moving because of that or is it because of command radius?

CapnDarwin -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (12/29/2014 7:26:13 PM)

HQs will move periodically to avoid getting radio fixed. Arty will move after shooting too. Other units should stay in place.

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (1/3/2015 7:41:24 PM)

With the help and guidance from ThePlodder, I'm now working on my campaign pitting the US/West Germans against the Soviet/East Germans using the techniques that ThePlodder showed me.

In the mean time wanted to show the unit and equipment symbols that I'm adding.

[image]http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z295/JohnOsborne1/UnitandEquipmentSymbols_zps5dbfcb8f.jpg[/image]

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (1/5/2015 1:02:00 AM)

Thought I will post a status on the campaign I'm working on and with ThePlodder great help, I just finished the US/West German User Data spreadsheet and will start tomorrow on the Soviet/East German User Data spreadsheet. Will post tomorrow as well a screenshot of both units on the same map.

CapnDarwin -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (1/5/2015 1:27:40 AM)

Looking forward to seeing it!

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (1/5/2015 2:53:18 AM)

Quick question, I have the US, WG, and the Soviet color for the counters, I'm trying to think what color should the East Germans have for their counter? Any ideas?

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (1/5/2015 8:06:01 PM)

My screenshot looks like its going to have to wait until this Friday. Just when you thought you have everything ready there is always something you forget to do [8|] I forgot to finish the formation sheet in the Allies Data Spreadsheet. Working on it right now. I did a quick test and noticed the problem. I also see US and West German vehicles and equipment at the same time on the map [:D]

Maybe the yellow/gold color of the bottom stripe of the DDR flag?

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (1/6/2015 1:00:44 AM)

good idea, will look at it, thanks.

HeinzBaby -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (1/6/2015 4:17:40 PM)

Regarding ideas for counter colours, I'd stay within the Red colour spectrum for Warsaw Pact, so at a glance you would know what is NATO or WP. Soviet Units are already Red, I'd make other WP units 'Burnt Orange' ,'Burgundy' (dark orange & Dark Red).
Belgian, Dutch, Canadian units I'd make any shade of Khaki/Olive Green.
French could be a pale Blue

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (1/7/2015 6:06:20 PM)

I at first thought that it would take until this Friday to fix my problems. But with ThePlodder very fast response to help me.
I'm able to post the results. As you can also see the units are on the same map at the same time [:)]

Its starting to look very good. See the screenshots below.

First screenshot showing the US tank plt.

Looking good.

JohnOsb -> RE: TF1-36IN BN (1/7/2015 6:38:16 PM)

Thanks, my work is still not done, I have to finish up on the NATO Forces formations and then start working on the WP unit data spreadsheet, work is never done [:D]
