Your maps look amazing..but after playing the first scenario of the Teacher campaign I realise I struggle to play on them due to finding it very difficult to work out elevations in Forest areas.

Plodder -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/15/2014 11:47:05 PM)

Sorry to hear that, the shading can be subtle. If it helps, the light source for the maps is from the north-west, which is how our maps are shaded in NZ. That might be confusing for some of you northern hemisphere folks.[:D]

Thank you for Red Storm 5.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/22/2014 1:20:24 PM)

Nice. The 1st scenario in my Silver Lions Campaign uses Red Storm 5 so I finally get to see a different look in my seemingly endless playtesting. [:D]

Not quite.[&:] I noticed a couple of errors so I've uploaded a revised version. Same link as above.[:)]

Plodder -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/27/2014 6:18:23 AM)

I've been testing a few ways to enhance the elevation changes more, as I'm not totally happy with what I've got at then moment. The North west edges of the elevations are hard to distinguish in urban environments for example.

I've come up with a few ways to do it. I've made a preview of the different solutions below and I'm going to open it up to you guys to see what you prefer. Nos. 1 and 2 use slightly different techniques, where no. 1 has a flat, layered look while no. 2 is a more rounded look.No.3 is an enhanced version of no.2 where I added a black outline after the shading.

pekische -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/27/2014 7:57:13 AM)

The most clear for me is no. 3.

DerGrenadier -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/27/2014 8:08:28 AM)

I would go with either 2 or 3, leaning slightly more towards 3.

cbelva -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/27/2014 11:47:02 AM)

Same as above. I could go with 2 or 3. But 3 does appear a little more defined.

z1812 -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/27/2014 1:01:57 PM)

They are all good..........[:D] But number 3 seems to bring out the elevations more clearly.

Panta_slith -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/27/2014 2:20:13 PM)

I rise my hand to vote for #3 as well! [:)]

Plodder -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/27/2014 3:11:28 PM)

Looks like no 3 is the general consensus so far.[:)] I've done a quick revision of the Hamelin map. Here's the NE corner of my original map:

Plodder -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/27/2014 3:13:15 PM)

And here's the revised map. The elevations are a lot clearer now:

djoos5 -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/27/2014 5:25:22 PM)

Very nice stuff!!

Are the changes downloadable yet?

Plodder -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/27/2014 6:54:00 PM)

Not yet. I have to go through the maps and realign the forests, fields and towns. May take a few days. [:)]

wodin -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/27/2014 8:14:43 PM)

No 2 or No 3 mate.

Mad Russian -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/28/2014 2:34:56 AM)

How do you like playing on them? Any issues that you find?

Good Hunting.

MR

Plodder -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/30/2014 1:35:29 AM)

Play? I'm too busy making maps to play.[:D] l play tested my original map but haven't since. I'd like to hear from anyone else though. Once I've revised the ones I've done so far, the elevations will a lot easier to read.

Plodder -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/30/2014 1:57:47 PM)

I'm uploading the revised versions of Red Storm 5, 6, 9, 12 and 13 as I type this. They will be available from the same links.

Plodder -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/30/2014 2:31:24 PM)

Sorry, I jumped the gun, mediafire played up on me, re uploading them now. should be ready soon...

wodin -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/30/2014 2:34:08 PM)

Any chance you can upload your Maps in one big zip mega pack?

Thanks

Plodder -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/30/2014 2:41:13 PM)

Not while I'm still making them as it's a major pain to re-package and re-upload but I probably will once I've finished.

Plodder -> RE: My Map Remakes thread (3/30/2014 2:52:06 PM)

Okay, they should be up now with the same links.I downloaded a map and it's the new one so we should be good to go. [:)]
