Actually, you already have TCPs (Traffic Control Points). In the forward areas, a unit might detach some Scouts to do this. In game, you do this by giving multiple units waypoints in the same hex, and edit these setting delays. That can keep you from having everyone trying to go through the hex at the same time. Not sure about optimum separation. I use 2 plts/min on roads. 2 min cross country in the open, and 3 min in the woods. I am betting I couple pack them in tighter and not have a problem, though.
