fbs -> Anyone knows what triggers an intercept? (3/9/2014 7:11:04 PM)

I've searched everywhere in the manual and in threads, but can't figure this out:

What is taken into account in committing an air group to intercept the enemy raid? Is it:

(a) Distance of a staging base to the actual target of the raid?
(b) Distance of the HQ to the actual target of the raid?
(c) Distance of the air unit to the actual target of the raid?
(d) Distance of the air unit to its own HQ?
(e) Distance of something (staging base/HQ/intercepting air unit) to the path of the raid?

The only one I can more or less ignore is (a), as the manual says staging bases are not used for air intercepts.

By the way, this is what I should do to protect my precious oil fields:

if (b), then put the HQ in the middle of the oil fields, and put the IAD adjacent to the HQ
if (c), then put one IAD adjacent to each oil field, and put the HD in the middle
if (d), then put the HQ in the middle of the oil fields, and put the IAD adjacent to the HQ
if (e), then put the IAD in an arc to the West of all oil fields, and put the HD in the middle

(c) Distance of the air unit to the actual target of the raid.

there is no intercept in midcourse , that is why the bomber can go trough and hit targets deep in the rear .

Cool

I'm going to move my Transcaucasian air bases to be on top of the oil wells then

Thank you, Gabriel

You might consider spending 1 AP for a PVO AA Regiment at the location as well. Leave it there for the rest of the game, though.
