Gargoil -> Expenise Services - Worth it? (3/10/2014 7:45:15 PM)

The expensive perks that can be bought (like the one for 80k in the stables), is that a vetinerian (sp)?

If so, how are these perks worth buying? By the time you have enough money to buy these, and if they do only what you can do by paying for services a race at a time, you would never get your money back.

Or do they somehow work better? Have extra bonus effects?

Thanks

If you are playing the normal campaign the hired medic also reduces the cost of saving eliminated aurigas

This is just for the medic. Are there any extra benefits for the veterinarian or chariot repair specialist? It still does not seem like these are good investments, when simple repairs are not that expensive.

yeah, I'm trying to work out what the benefits of he specialist services are - they are very expensive

Grotius -> RE: Expenise Services - Worth it? (3/18/2014 2:47:18 AM)

I'm having trouble seeing what costs what. On the top half of the Manage screen, I'm not sure where the prices are for new chariots and new horses, for example. I see two chariots listed, but only one price at the bottom of the chariot box. Am I missing something?

tgb -> RE: Expenise Services - Worth it? (3/18/2014 10:42:28 AM)

There should be a price listed below each chariot, team of horses, etc. for sale. You aren't seeing this?

Grotius -> RE: Expenise Services - Worth it? (3/18/2014 6:11:58 PM)

No. I think the issue is that the black font doesn't show up against the black "money bag" icons in the chariot square. I do barely see a price for the horses, because the "money bag" in that area is brown, not black -- but even that is very hard to see. I'm playing on 2560 x 1600, which may be part of the issue. To my eye, the prices need to be larger and in a different color -- yellow or green or orange or something. Here's a screenshot of what I see:

Also, referring to my screenshot in the post above: what are the items for sale at the bottom of the forum, shop and market boxes? Medical treatment for auriga, repairs for chariots, vet services for horses? Even those items' prices are a bit hard for me to see, by the way.

Niessuh -> RE: Expenise Services - Worth it? (3/18/2014 7:05:57 PM)

It seems that the interface is not ready for such huge resolutions!
I will fix that soon.

Temple -> RE: Expenise Services - Worth it? (3/18/2014 8:46:17 PM)

Just FYI for folks, the following screen shot was taken at 1920x1200 resolution. As you can see, the prices are just starting to overlap with the symbols above. So probably this is the highest resolution you should consider using until patched.

FWIW...i just bought the chariot repair service yesterday (i won a big event that netted my 32,000d). What's interesting is that it now doesn't cost my chariots, but sometimes the repair takes more than 1 race to complete. Perhaps in the next build it might be possible to have this guy add a single customization / improvement to a "stock" chariot?

Grotius -> RE: Expenise Services - Worth it? (3/18/2014 9:45:18 PM)

Hmm, okay, I'll reduce my resolution for now. I'm still wondering what the bottom row of stuff for sale is -- e.g., the 40,000 item relating to chariots in Temple's screenshot, or the 60,000 for horses. Are those the "services" you guys are talking about in this thread? What do they do?

I've now got all three (bet on good odds in a big race where I was guaranteed a fast start - net earnings of almost 100k!!) and can confirm that they are just 'free' versions of the paid repair/healing/vet services, but maybe a bit quicker?

They don't really seem like value for money, but after 50 or so races in this campaign there isn't really anything left to spend money on anyway.

Hi mate,

This looks like you have DPI scaling turned on, try it at 100% and see if that makes a difference. A lot of games don't like the DPI scaling. Just not that it will make everthing look smaller, I have had to get used to it for gaming's sake.
