Phier -> Help with troop loading (3/14/2014 1:43:13 PM)

You know you get to that point in a game where you have a huge army, a few dozen transport ships, you just took over a home colony or want to load from your home world and the chaos starts at least for me.

If you do "load at colony" they act like you did a general "load troops" and some of them will jet off into space to pick up those few infantry you have on some other colony. It seems the only way to get them to load from one specific colony is to click each transport individually and then the planet you want to get troops from.

This is frustrating but doable usually. Adding to my problem is my homeworld, which has about 20 units of special forces, NO one wants to pick up (despite them being part of the load out). The problem is trying to even click on my homeworld is near impossible. I've got a large base + 4 defense bases + dozens of private ships + 20 or more idle miners the AI just has sitting there doing nothing.

So basically is there an easier way to get a fleet to load troops from only ONE world with a click?

Scroll out so you get the abstract view of the solar system (you can't see planets) and right click on the star then you can send them to a world via the drop down menu. Also once they're in orbit when you hit load troops they'll start with the troops from that world. Just make sure to garrison some troops so they don't vacuum up the entire defense force.

Granted I'm still learning the game myself so someone else may have a better way.

You have to follow the way the game is designed vs trying to get it to do what you want... :-)

1. Set troops that want to keep on colonies as garrisoned. Anyone not garrisoned is fair game for transports.
2. Verify you want to follow the fleet loadout for troops or just whoever is available. Default loadout might not be optimal.
3. Let the fleet figure out how to fill the transports or micro-manage the individual transports.

Would be nice to tell the fleet to load troops only from planet X vs each individual transport, but that's not here yet.

Another idea would be to mandate the AI keep the fleet together vs letting the transports fly all over.
