adsoul64 -> File 1080.sfx for not English mother tongue (3/18/2014 2:45:42 PM)

Hi everybody, my mother tongue is not English, so sometimes I’m unable to understand in game speeches but I must admit there’s especially one that is driving me crazy. It is 1080.sfx file in SOUND folder. I bet I have listened to it at least one hundred of times (especially when I’m anxiously waiting for a turn from my opponents) but I’m still unable to understand it. Someone could be so nice to transcribe the text for me? Thanks in advance.

"Radio, raise command, send, Main Body"

So easy... shame on me. Thanks nashvillen

Someone correct me if i am wrong.
That massage is played when capital ship (BB,CVL,CV) is detected, right?
Of course playing this massage is influenced by FoW?. It easy to confuse big cargo ships with carrier, or confusing CL with BB

OK, but what does that really mean?

Radio, raise command. Send: main body.

Someone in an aircraft has made a sighting. Let's say - Starboard blister lookout to 'Radio' operator. 'Raise command' means get the headquarters on the radio.

'Send: main body' Send a message that we have sighted the main body of enemy ships.

Thank you! Now it makes sense.

Isn't that a quote from "Midway?"

I think it's just a random message that occurs when a sighting is made.

I frequently get "Raise command, have sighted enemy carriers" or whatever it is when my pilots are looking at submarines.

I believe it is, yes. As I recall, one of the PBY's spotted the main invasion task force and heavy SCTF (including Yamato). Fletcher was ticked because the report didn't describe if there were any carriers.

adsoul64,

We'll all be glad to translate for you.

I once lost a $20 bet with my then girlfriend's father trying to sing this song in Italian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tg3C0nvenro

None of the Italian grandmothers listening (who couldn't speak English) could make out a single word I sang -- and laughed really hard. Really hard.

OK, so we had drunk way to much wine, and I probably couldn't speak English well at that point either.

Italian is a tough language. You have my sympathies.

Regards,
Feltan

Kaleun, when I read the translation I have thought "Midway" too. So I've checked my "bible" (The Barrier and the Javelin, H.P. Willmott) and now I think you're reporting the message of Ens. Jack Reid that on the morning of the 3rd reported "main body", confusing Tanaka's transports for the Japanese main body.

Feltan,

ROFL. I hope that wine was fine but honestly I symphatize with you, I'm supposed to speak Italian fluently but I had to read subtitles to understand a single word of that song [:D]
