Blind Sniper -> RE: Play balance DaBigBabes B v C (3/21/2014 10:42:12 AM)

Thanks for the explanation, in fact each refinery just give me 9 fuel points per 10 oil ones and every LI factory give me 1 supply point, is it right?

Is the "extra" stored in a random base in the HI?

Sorry for the dumb question, but how it works exactly?

There is some extra daily supply that makes up for what the refineries in the Home Island produce in stock and a little extra. However the extra is not equal to what the refineries produce in stock when Japan expands to Balikpapan, Palembang, Miri, and Tarakan. So despite the extra daily supply, Japan has less supply available than in stock by a fair margin. In addition, Palembang has less refineries than stock so creates less fuel. Pretty much, that means you have to send oil Home more often than you might have in stock.

That sounds a significant impediment to the empire.

Here...a Gaugin...from the Orsay [:)]

By ra way, the Musee d'Orsay is waaaaay better than the Louvre.

Think of the movie Ghost. It's a recurring theme.

Good point. I read once that Gaugin had one of the first Sony Betamax players.

Personally, I'm kinda into to the first "g". I know where the unedited original is. Send $ and I'll send a link. [8D]

[ed] btw, I love Gaugin. He lived there long time. He was the next best thing to a native, and painted his impressions of the Polynesian world sensationally. Personally, I think he is as good as Monet, but is oriented a bit more towards the human aspect of the flesh, if you know what I mean. If I had a choice, I would hang a Gaugin.

The girl under the second G is very cute but I think she has 6 toes on her right foot.

I've always been partial to the "First g" girl. [8D]

She's a beauty ain't she? Her posture, those laser eyes, the way she places her knees. Don Bowen and I have been arguing over #1 (bow) and #3 (2nd from back) since forever. Nice to see another afficianado taking up the challenge.

Ciao Mike. John

It can be if you do not take it into consideration and admittedly it is not "easy mode". But after trying it, I'd not want it any other way. [:)]

It is certainly not for everybody though.

pws1225 -> RE: Play balance DaBigBabes B v C (3/21/2014 8:09:10 PM)

Quite frankly, I hadn't noticed "bow girl" had feet. And I do agree that the first "g" girl does have the look of agreeable mischief about her. Sort of like an earth-mother and she-devil combo!

Side note: For those of you who think this line of thought is OT, may I point out that the title of this thread is about DaBigBabes.

I knew somebody would say that. [:D] I think we have polydactyly here. Probably some type of evolutionary adaptation allowing her to swim faster and catch fish or something. Try to be clinical. Fight your instincts. Don't look at the headlights.

Both, actually, but I was actually referring to the podophilia possibilities offered by bow-girl.

Found the answer: 980 supply points per turn splitted in several bases [:)]

We play a DBB-C PBEM currently, and up to now we like it.

In general I think it is much better in representing the logistical difficulties of the war due to the reduced cargo capacity compared to the other DBB versions and to stock.

There is one thing only time can tell:

While initially this mod seems to be tougher on the Allies as they need to haul large numbers of supplies over great distances, I think the strain it puts on the IJN should not be underestimated.

One of the key areas of the Japanese side is fuel, more in DBB as in stock. With the reduced transport capacity, moving around stuff costs more fuel per unit moved. The Japanese side have to be aware of this and compensate with either higher production output, lower consumption, or shorter routes.

Whether the change is critical for Japan and unbalances the game, I don´t know yet. I assume careful planning (one of our opponents streghts) should prevent early collapse.

I am just wondering if this is from an Allied player's point of view.

I ask because why reduce the supply capacity of ships in a game where one side has a magic road that precludes having to ship material from East Indies to Japan in lieu of a very shorter and more efficient Korea to Japan route.

Is there somewhere a grand list of "we made THESE changes to the game" listing as for every thing that sounds decent - better AA - there is something else like reducing cargo capacity making even more micromanaging which 1) Causes even more more work and 2)The impact doesn't affect everyone equally. {% of bases covered by land transport).

Nope. If you care to reread my post I covered both sides.

You are
a) probably equating ressource movement with general hauling requirements, which leads to false conclusions.
and might also
b) assume that a Japanese player attempts to trigger auto ressource/oil flow to Korea, which IMHO borderlines cheating, is unreliable at best, and anyway is not used by our opponent.

Without making the above assumptions the increased fuel requirements for Japan should be obvious.

Grand list for what? If you mean DBB, nope.

Not sure I get what you say, but you can always play DBB A/B, which does not have the reduced transport capabilities but includes all other changes.

Not sure about an Allied AI in DBB C, but without "scripts" the Japanese AI has done the following in my game so far:

All “Babes” scenarios have the Japanese OOB in its approximately appropriate slot locations so ALL “Babes”, Big, Lite, A, B, C, can be played as Allied against the Japanese AI. One can use ANY AI file written for a standard GC game (including Andy’s whacko stuff, but not his super-iron-man things).

BabesLite (scens 026 and 027) works against the AI for BOTH sides.

All one must do is simply renumber the desired AI file to the number of the Babes scenario you are using. i.e., renumber aei001-03 to aei028-03, for example. If you want a quiet China BigBabes, just use an AI file that starts with aei007, aei008, or aei009. Flexibility is a wonderful thing.

It doesn’t matter if you play with A, B, or C. That bears repeating IT DOESN’T MATTER if you play with A, B, or C. A, B, or C it just doesn't matter. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO THE AI. IT .. JUST .. DOESN’T .. MATTER.

I hope things are a bit more clear now.

One question:

When I install scen 28, there is a aei28.dat file in the SCEN folder. If I rename the stock aei001-01.dat to aei028-01.dat, how is the new aei028-01.dat different from aei28.dat, that comes with the scenario?

I have renamed aei001 numbers 01 to 06 (more historical), but I am not sure how the renumbered files are different from the standard aei28.dat file. I have used aei28.dat and it felt fine, no major hiccups on the AI side as Japan.

I just started DaBigBabes "B" vs Allied AI..

I would had prefered to play "C" but there are no AI scripts and therefore I cannot go solo.

And, I also understand the developers warned about Allied AI not working correctly, for several reasons, but I will take my chances; I am more a logistics gamer, so I guess I won't complain if the Allies are not performing

I will post in some weeks

I played Babes C solo when it was first released and the AI was no worse, or better than in any other game.

C doesn't just reduce capacities, it also reduces endurance and not just for transports, quite a few combatants had their legs shortened.

Has a fair impact on operations.
