I dont find the manual nor the tutorial to be any help....could someone please explain how naval combat is conducted....actually, all things naval...EG: amphib attacks, convoys etc

naval conflict, you just need to be in range of an enemy to attack it, with convoys same rule applies, amphib you can land at only certain parts of a coast, plus you can't sail there and land same turn etc, ports you can but there always defended anyway to stop this, anything else?

hope i've answered your query?

if not reply and i'll try and do better

Two additional comments concerning amphib assults:
1) make sure you're using amphib transports and not convoy transports. There is a difference. Convoy transport can only go port to port. Only amphib transport can move to a sea zone then assult a coastal hex.
2) Depending on a number of factors (but mostly enemy fleet presence), you may not be able to amphib assult unless you have lots of friendly escorts (BBs, CVx, CAs, etc) in the zone with the amphib transports.

Lots of comments throughout the forum about the naval aspect of the game. Most of them not positive.
