I am totally confused on how the calculation for Base Administration of air groups works. I have read the manual - 50 single engine or 25 two engine or 12 four engine = 1 group per AF size. The manual goes on to say if air groups are in Rest/Training they only count 1/3 towards the total planes count and do not count at all towards the total number of groups. If this is true why does my Rangoon Air Base still show one group? see below. FYI - I know the Air HQ can modify the calculation but I do not understand how it actually works. Air HQ - 221 Group RAF is in the Rangoon hex.

Thanks in advance.

dunno what version you're playing,

but in general, all groups listed as Training count as only 1 group.
also, multiple groups of seaplanes count as only 1 group, even on active ops.

the aircraft stack level of 200 indicates a level-4 airfield, so you're getting a 1-group increase from that AirHQ. Which I would've thought to be a 3-group increase, since my 221 Group RAF has a command radius of 3, & yours is in the same hex as the airfield (Rangoon).

I agree the stack level of 8 is too low, shouldn't it be 15?

I think this is the explanation for your example.

Assuming Air HQ 221 has a command radius of 1, then base size of 4 + 1 for HQ gives 5 groups allowed. 4 (base size) * 50 = 200 stack limit.

All training groups together count as 1 group for stack purposes. All fragments together count as 1 group for stack purposes (not sure what constitutes a fragment.)

Stacking limits are calculated per group based on ready aircraft (I think each 4 non-ready aircraft may count as 1 additional ready).

So the groups with 1 or 2 1E do not count for limits nor that with 1 2E.

The Blenheim group counts as 5 * 2 / 3 = 3. The larger Hudson as 3 * 2 / 3 = 2. The Hurricane group as 3 / 3 and the Fulmar as 8 / 3. 3 + 2 + 1 + 2 for 8.

If the HQ has a command radius of 3 then it is probably not in the same command as the base so only treats itself as 1/2 command radius bonus.

Playing stock, campaign 1. Base is not attached to the same as HQa.
