cdoarm -> Human Sacrifice - Looking for Japanese Player (4/7/2014 11:10:36 PM)

All,

Looking to start new campaign (1 Day Turn) after spending a couple of days reacquainting myself with game after three year absence. I am a Allied Fan-Boy and looking for an epic smack down. I want a relentless Japanese player who is willing to go big (Australia, Pearl Harbor, West Coast - no objective to big). I want to play a scenario where I literally have to fight from Karachi to San Francisco, New Zealand to Nome.

I have the latest beta patch, extended map with SL and am interested in playing as Allied in Reluctant Admiral Mod (I am open to other scenario suggestions). Preferences are completely negotiable. Thank you for your consideration.

What kind of a long-term turn exchange ratio are you looking for? The first turns of course take long. 1 turn/day or would a slightly lower rate accounting vacations and other IRL-related interruptions do?

Can you post here or PM your own preferences for game settings/preferences, scenarios, game version, house rule options etc.? [:)]

I have about 600 turns of PBEM under my belt, all Japanese. I also think I have an old AAR or 2 written... [:)]

Erkki,

I am a steady 1 turn/day with more on the weekend. I am good with slightly lower rate and of course vacation/interruptions do occur. I am working professional and completely understanding of such things.

My preferences are negotiable but as opening position:

FOW = ON
Advanced weather = ON
Allied damage control = ON
PDU = ON
Historical first turn = OFF (I am very negotiable on this point; If my opponent wants otherwise, I am cool with it)
Dec 7 surprise = ON
Reliable USN torps = OFF
Realistic R&D = ON
No unit withdrawals = ON (This was't an option when I was originally playing and think it would interesting to use; It is not a hard position with me and can pass on it if opponent feels strongly)
Reinforcements = +/- 15 days

As for scenario, I am thinking Reluctant Admiral 6.6 and I play as Allies. It appears to be fascinating scenario and puts Japan in a very good opening position with better toys, though not outrageously so.

I have no special house rules preference though open to suggestions from opponent. I have read your past AARs and I don't see anything unreasonable in your past house rules you have used.

I plan on writing an AAR - I will talk strategy in it so I would ask that you refrain from looking at it.

Final word: My style is not to play passively and go turtle until late '43. I will attempt to mount a reasonable (not suicidal) defense and attempt to hit back. I want my opponent to be merciless and ambitious...I don't want any point on the map to be safe.

Thanks and hope to hear back from you,

Respectfully

K

Hey,

Sounds very good. I'm also planning to write an AAR of some kind, though I doubt that I will this time do a day-by-day in-details one, at least not for most of the game, as writing and compiling one is a lot of work and time which I dont have quite as much now as I've used to before.

I will familiarize myself with the Reluctant Admiral scenario.

As for the preferences, I'm pretty good with your suggestions. I would prefer to retain unit withdrawals though, and use fixed reinforcements(because many Allied ships arrive the same day and can be immediately formed into a TF, otherwise they'd have to wait for all ships to arrive).

HRs I'd prefer to have would include the standard-ish stuff such as no strat bombing in or out of China before -43, paying PPs to cross national borders, no or very little night flying, strike/sweep and CAP altitude rules(either relative to best MVR alt or absolute, changing by date, both make sense to me and I'm OK with either), no 1-TF-picket ship spam, no fragment paradrops, no non-base hex landings etc. standard stuff. And of course no first turn CV hunting nor invasion of Brisbane or something. [:)] Once I've looked at the RA scenario I may ask for a change or 2 to it such as pushing back the availability dates of some late war Japanese aircraft so that I'd need to actually research them to get them by historical date. Not sure if thats relevant in the RA scenario though - depends on how difficult you want the war to be. [8D]

I'm not sure how people would describe my playing style, but I believe I'd now have the experience to be more aggressive early in the campaign than I have been in my past games.

My time zone is GMT+2(east euro, Helsinki-Riga-Istanbul-Cairo etc.) which I think is OK for 1 turn/day if you are in the states, as neither of us probably needs to wait while the others working on the turn. [:)]I'd probably get to prepare the first turn by weekend... Can you contact me via PM if you're interested, for sharing emails and the game stuff and HR etc. in detail?
