richlove -> Resting after a contested landing (4/16/2014 6:45:20 PM)

Again, GC vs. AI, August '42, my first contested amphibious landing. I'm trying to get a sense of the status of my troops and how I should proceed. Status is below, including the IJ forces on the island. Questions:

- Is that level of fatigue and disruption expected? Troops were almost all fully prepped - high 90s if not 100%.
- Will either of those come down if I defend, or if bombard?
- Recommendations - should I bombard, DA, get more troops, evacuate, other? I believe I can control the area when my CVs are there, but not w/o them. I can hit the island with bombers and bombardments fairly steadily.

Thanks!

The disruption & fatigue levels are within expectable boundaries for contested landings.
You will regenerate faster when defending instead of bombarding.

The Jap units will not be able to dislodge you from your landing area without reinforcements, but you will probably not able to conquer the hex. AV is too close and in Aug ´42 the Allied firepower advantage is not developed sufficiently.

I suggest you get more troops. Another regiment plus some tanks will be enough in case you are in no rush and can add bombardement TFs and regular bombing attacks to the party. If you want to cut this short you will need 2 divisions and tanks.

The above obviously also depends on the forts, supply situation, and fatigue/disruption levels of the defenders.

More troops it is. Thanks for weighing in.

Are you playing with stacking limits?

No, scenario 1.

OK, then add more troops. FYI, if you have stacking limits in place your problem is much greater.
