Vin -> Build 517 - Being depth charged but no contacts (4/24/2014 8:51:36 AM)

Hi

Updated to [ 517 ] last night and fired up the mission Tee Up
Had my 3 SSN's fairly close to one another and one of those was
on the surface with radar and active sonar on, then all of a sudden
one of my subs was depth charged and sunk but there was no contacts
what so ever on screen and even the sub that was active and sitting
on the surface could not see anything.

Unable to upload the file as it says fake path and not supported

Here is a screenshot

Pretty sure helo's are armed with depth charges and you don't appear to have an air capable sensor active.

Hi

According to Hammerhead's sensor panel, radar is active - Is this radar unable to detect air units ?

Here is the sonar panel of Hammerhead showing radar as active with the depth at 0

You'd think a modern sub would have some sort of decent passive ESM to pick up the helo radar coming in even if it didn't have an air search radar.
The helo could be coming in radar off, but at night for a depth charge attack, I'd sure fire it up.

Not sure the helo was illuminating and this scenario takes place it the 60's or 70's I think.

I'd say in general you're right though if conditions are met.

Is there a save available?

After the first sub was sunk i ordered the other subs to dive just under the layer and creep, then bam, the helo showed up.
Still do not know why i could not see the helo on the surface but soon i detected the Russian ships and a November class sub
so i fired a mk37 mod2 at the sub and then another but with a torpedo speed of just 24kts the November was able to turn away and
go flank at 30kts and outrun the mk37.

I will continue with the mission later today but to sink this sub im going to have to get my two subs either side of him and
fire from both sides, hopefully he will not be able to outrun two mk37's coming at him from both sides.

I didn't check the scenario...but was it night and radar was off?? Then your first warning might well be detonation of depth charges.
