First, thanks for putting together a great game...from an ex-Harpoon Junkie.

The torpedo ranges for ADCAP, Spearfish, Kit, and other long-range heavyweight torpedoes seem very low. The kinematic range is approximately right, but the engagement range is only 6 nm or so for these torpedoes, and that just seems wrong in comparison to published literature. Possibly you could check? I have not looked at other torpedoes, but they also may need to be checked also.

What you're seeing is the range at which the AI will fire them not the actual fuel range. The reason we do this is to minimize the possibly of the AI outrunning the torpedo which as a Harpoon player you should be very familiar with.

If you'd like to test try a BOL shot and measure the distance.

Great, thanks for the info.

Also, my Growler offensive jamming seems to turn itself off on a game save/reload. I now remember to turn jamming back on on a reload of a saved game.

I have tried everything to do a BOL shot with a Mk48 CBASS and it will not fire Bearing Only unless it is within the 6nm range circle, regardless of the kinematic range of the torpedo

I encourage the great team at Matrix to take another look at this. The ADCAP, Spearfish, and Kit torps (as well as some others) carry a large advantage when attacking another sub or surface convoy. Attacking a surface convoy from 6 nm is usually extremely deadly (for the sub). Just imo.

Ah must of been a recent change. You're correct but not broke[:)]

Okay do this. Bol the torpedo with the 6 miles on the bearing of the target. Once launched select the torp and give it a manual course (F3 and click and drag). Once in sensor range press F3 and as long as the torpedo detects it will home in (you'll see a digit next to it).

That solution works, thanks. I have a pesky Chinese sub 20 miles from my Seawolf, and now I'm gonna send it to Davey Jones' Locker!
