If I would choose I would fire MG instead of laser. Much faster and cheaper way to do it. :D

Stuffs moving along when it comes to the pew pew, the Excalibur laser system below is supposed to get up to 100kw + as testing goes on.

Seems like they want 100kW as a minimum for usable weapon effectiveness.
