HailRider -> Display issues with retina screen on bootcamp (5/11/2014 8:40:26 PM)

I just got CMANO, and am eager to get it up and going. I enjoyed Harpoon decades ago.

I am running CMANO on a new MacBook Pro with a retina screen, using bootcamp to run Windows 8.

It seems that the text display area on the right of the main screen doesn't fit the text properly. About 30% of the text is excluded.
Also, there are many places where the text doesn't fit in the pop ups well.

Has this been reported before, and is there a fix?

Also, I was wondering if this program was going to be made for Mac.

Thanks

Hello,

Do you use enlarged desktop fonts? 150% of normal size maybe?

HailRider -> RE: Display issues with retina screen on bootcamp (5/12/2014 1:57:03 AM)

I was using 150%. Now I am not. Looks like problem solved. Thank you very much!!

I wonder if that is why the game has crashed twice already. I hope so.

Hello,

If you have another crash issue can you please post a report on it (on a new thread) and attach the autosave file? We are constantly on the lookout for crash issues and usually handle them as high-priority items.

Thanks.

HailRider, out of curiosity, what's the performance like and a Mac Pro? Fluid?

HailRider -> RE: Display issues with retina screen on bootcamp (5/12/2014 9:08:55 PM)

It seems to run well. But I have nothing for comparison. There is no stuttering and the lines are crisp. It looks fine, except for the really small font, but that is an issue with windows on the retina screen in general.

I was wondering, do I have to install all 3 patches (1.01, 1.02, and 1.03)? I just did the 1.03 patch…

Also, when I installed, I used CommandModernAirNavalOperations-SetupRelease-v1.01.exe. But there was also CommandModernAirNavalOperations-SetupRelease-v1.01.2 and CommandModernAirNavalOperations-SetupRelease-v1.01.3 in the folder. How do I use them? Or are they accessed when CommandModernAirNavalOperations-SetupRelease-v1.01.exe runs?

thewood1 -> RE: Display issues with retina screen on bootcamp (5/12/2014 10:04:38 PM)

I think those are just files that called by the main file...parts 1, 2 and 3. I think that was how I saw the original install happen.

HailRider -> RE: Display issues with retina screen on bootcamp (5/12/2014 10:16:04 PM)

Thanks.

How about the patches? Do I need to install all of them, or just the latest?

Thanks.

HailRider -> RE: Display issues with retina screen on bootcamp (5/13/2014 7:05:59 PM)

It seems that when I press (and just hover over, actually) the time compression for 5sec, the timing goes really fast. Is this a recognized issue?

Thanks again.

HailRider -> RE: Display issues with retina screen on bootcamp (5/14/2014 4:49:19 AM)

It crashed again. This time it was when I was using the time compression at 5 sec, which actually runs much much faster for some reason.

It's not an issue, it's how it is designed to work.

From the v1.03 release notes:

quote:

* Major new game option: No-pulse time mode (YES by default).

Enabling this option leads to two changes:
- At any time acceleration setting, the map & UI do not refresh every second but every 0.1 sec.
- The sim engine executes each turn not in "pulsing" mode (emulating Harpoon's presentation), but as fast as possible.

The net result of these changes is that at time acceleration (particularly at high values, e.g. 1:30 or 1:60 sec) the map updates much more smoothly and the overall game speed is significantly improved.

To retain the "traditional", Harpoon-style pulsing map refresh set this option to NO.

This setting can be toggled on/off via three ways
a) From the main menu bar: Game -> Options -> No-pulse time mode.
b) Drop-down selector "Time Mode", placed to the right of the existing "Time Compression" drop-down selector.
c) Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+Q .

Please provide the autosave file. Without it, it is impossible for us to recreate the conditions under which the crash occurred.

Thanks.

HailRider -> RE: Display issues with retina screen on bootcamp (5/14/2014 1:30:25 PM)

Thank you very much for the info on the pulse time compression. I'm glad to hear that was the way it should work. I understand now.

I have the last autosave. I assume you want the most recent one before the crash. How should I send it to you? I don't see an upload feature on this forum.

Sorry, I looked there, but I missed it.

Sorry it happened but thanks for reporting.

I've logged the crash.

HailRider -> RE: Display issues with retina screen on bootcamp (5/15/2014 3:31:01 AM)

I installed the latest build. The game crashed again. Here is the autosave.

Unable to reproduce this one in Build 526 (this is often a good sign BTW).

Is this crash happening consistently on your installation?

Unable to reproduce this too. Is it happening consistently on your installation? (ie. you resume from this save and it crashes all the time?)

HailRider -> RE: Display issues with retina screen on bootcamp (5/16/2014 3:48:19 PM)

I haven't tried yet. I'll give it a try.

HailRider -> RE: Display issues with retina screen on bootcamp (5/16/2014 3:56:50 PM)

I tried the autosave and it didn't crash.

I'll post if it occurs again.
