hb921 -> [FIXED B758] Aircraft instant deceleration - the reason why? (5/14/2014 8:33:55 AM)

I think I don't need to explain in lenght how nice is to have ships/subs/aircrafts that don't accelerate/turn/dive/climb instantly. But why there is instant deceleration for aicraft? I don't think I need to provide any evidence or prove that it is impossible to decelarate from 950 knots to 350 knots in a fraction of second.
Possibly it is project decision due to AI or other limitations?

Best Regards

Thanks for reporting. It is probably just a bug but we'll take a look. Thanks!

Can I take this opportunity to ask whether speeds for aircraft are airspeed or groundspeed?

Im looking at F-16s going 960 knots and wondering what engines they have on them... cheers!

Its True Air Speed, TAS [8D] I.e. speed over ground.

So long as there's no wind (head or tail).

Correct hehe [:)]

Okay, the problem was not with any logic flaw in the physics model, but just that our deceleration values were absurdly high so it appeared that aircraft were instantly slowing down (whereas in reality they were slowing down very fast).

Tweaked decel values in Build 758.

Does wind affect aircraft performance with regards to TAS and range? How about ordnance like dumb bombs being dropped visually with a gunsight or HUD like CCIP delivery?

I notice we don't have wind speed and direction, just a state number which I assume is based on the Beaufort scale?

EDIT: ok just saw in the manual that the wind/sea state slider affects sonar performance and the minimum altitude a plane can fly above rough seas.
