Command: It keeps getting better and better. Never thought I'd see a modern computer naval and air warfare simulation this good in my lifetime.[&o]

I just came back to Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. From 2004 or so until 2008 I used to play a lot. A lot of fun [:)]

But this time we play in tandem. I convinced my best mate to join the massacre so we join the same server [sm=Evil-210.gif]

That game has absolutely no right to be fun to play.

Loving it....

Best wishes,

Haven't had much free time over the last few weeks, so I mostly just get in a couple rounds of CS:GO on a daily basis. When I do have free time it's been taken up by my new-found interest in board games. Specifically the Pathfinder card game which is quite fun.

I've been hankering for some tactical WW2 goodness, but can't decide between SPWAW or JT's Campaign Series. I already have both (thanks to sale induced impulse buys) but have yet to master the basics of either. I'm thinking about doing a US Marine campaign in the Pacific, which do you guys think would be better?

aaatoysandmore -> RE: What game are you "most" playing right now? (5/24/2014 9:29:44 PM)

Marine Campaign in the Pacific.

Yes, but John Tiller's Campaign Series or SPWAW?

Off topic, but what is the difference between a WW2 Campaign and the Campaign Generator in SPWAW? The WW2 campaign gives less choices of countries, but I'm guessing maybe a longer, different sort of campaign?

And while I'm derailing things, I haven't wrapped my head around how the campaigns work in SPWAW. You use points to buy a force, but you don't really know what you are going to face, and then your entire massive force appears on the map. Is the enemy force generated based on your units? If I just wanted to play a random campaign with say a reinforced infantry company plus a little armor/recon vehicles, will that work or be all wonky?

aaatoysandmore -> RE: What game are you "most" playing right now? (5/24/2014 10:37:01 PM)

It's hard to say how much randomness there is in SPWAW but it's always seemed pretty fair. If I'm assaulting I face a lot of infantry and anti-tank-infantry guns. If they are assaulting I see more infantry and mortars and tanks almost 2 to 1. meeting engagements about the same as what I have.

How is that?

GaryChildress -> RE: What game are you "most" playing right now? (5/25/2014 5:25:45 PM)

Right now I'm playing Panzer Corps. I discovered a really cool and easy to use utility to change camo colors on vehicles and that re-sparked my interest in the game. Also did a little tweaking of the stock grand campaign to make it more to my liking, i.e. I removed the invasion of the US scenarios. Fun, Fun!

justadude -> RE: What game are you "most" playing right now? (6/2/2014 11:00:17 PM)

Hi,

currently I am playing:

Madden (franchise with a friend)
Watch Dogs
Kerbal Space Program

I got back into wargaming when Steam had Unity of Command on sale. while it was fun, I find it to be more of a well done puzzle game. I found a copy of War in the East at a local store for 6 euros a few weeks ago. I had no idea it is so cheap in Europe. I used to play the V4V and World at War series from Atomic back in the day and bought Command Ops from this site a couple of years ago. I enjoyed that and still play it.

I am currently learning WitE and just the other day got Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm, which I am thoroughly enjoying.

I also, after seeing a post on this site, got all the Atomic games and went for a trip down memory lane, when I would play with three other people until the pbem file became corrupt.

It isn't. As far as I know it's never been released for retail in stores, either.

It is a German language version complete with manual in German (very well done). So maybe Europe is the wrong term and I should have said Germany. I was really surprised to see it on the shelf in, you know, Germany of all places, but there it was.

Mostly World of Tanks, with some Allied General and Endless Legend beta occasionally.

Ranger33 -> RE: What game are you "most" playing right now? (6/3/2014 1:43:17 PM)

Had a few goes at my Pacific campaign in SPWAW, my poor marines clearly needed better leadership as they didn't survive long at all. Probably need to go back through the tutorials...

Right now I'm playing through Xenonauts, which is finally out of beta. It's quite a lot of fun.

With the summer sunshine and a young daughter pool time beats PC time.
