The ai in this game has never been all that. I won my very first game very easily. Just plowed over everybody and other races were too easy to make alliances with. So, how is it now?

The new Ancient Galaxies Storyline game to show off the new event and modding capability was great fun. I had some worlds destroyed for the first time ever. But what was most noticeable was how enemy alliance fleets were co-ordinating their attacks against me. And similarly my allies were automatically coordinating their attacks with my fleets. I can't comment any further yet on any significant AI improvements beyond that.

So, how is it now? Yes, it has been improved. That said, every now and then you will have great luck early on. Try a harder setting. set research cost to a more expensive level, ETC. GP

Elliot also mentioned the AI has improved research pathing and the resource transport system has improved. Sounds good. Anything else anyone has noticed?

AI retrofit when getting hypertech from pre-warp should be a lot better.

Just a minor thing, but on pre-warp starts I noticed the automation no longer recommends building ships before I have a starport at which to build them. It doesn't affect things in the grand scheme, because you can't build them anyway, but perhaps it points to the AI paying more attention to what's going on. [;)]

Wow just had a 40 fleet allied fleet attack my system.I never saw that before.

While I was never great at DW, it was certainly fair to characterize its AI as... less than challenging once you got the hang of it. Its certainly much better now. [8D]
