Fonts in the game appear to be affected by ClearType (which is not so surprising).

So to improve how the fonts are displayed go to Start -> Control panel -> Display -> Ajust ClearType text

And select what you like the most.

DW is a pure 2D game (I think). I assumed it was when I first loaded it and saw the grainy looking text.

Can't speak to Radeon cards but if you've got an NVidia card and the text looks fuzzy, out of focus or grainy go to the NVidia control panel and add DW to the 3d settings list.

Then turn off AA, AF, multi-sampling and every thing else that's 3d graphics related (or alternatively set to let the application control). For sure turn off FXAA if you can.

For me at least that made the text crystal clear. Edit: The example is way fuzzier than the reality on my screen. Probably JPG compression is responsible.

Cleartype helps a ton, and also going into your display settings and adjusting the text/icon sizes will also adjust the text and UI sizes in Distant Worlds, while allowing you to keep a higher resolution. This is cool, because until I realized this I was always lowering the resolution just to get a bigger UI.

Stil, it could be better. A slide-scale in the in-game options that doesn't require you to change your display settings every time you want to play Distant Worlds would be much better.

all good information for those of us who thinks the fonts are far too small to read comfortably and don't want to wait for a patch / update :)
