Trying to install and it pops up: "Could not open the uninstall executable for writing: Access to C:/windows/Distant Worlds Universe/uninstall exe was denied, clicking ok ends the install process...great... :/

started the exe as admin, yes...

I suppose so yes, I never had any probs installing a game or whatever...

Hmm odd, sounds like windows is preventing you from accessing the windows folder. Or an antivirus of some kind. Do you have antivirus installed, and can you disable it temporarily while installing?

Already disabled to prevent any problems...yeah, worked great... :(

Hmms.

Go into that folder and see if the file's there already. If it is, try deleting it.

Go into control panel->user accounts and(temporarily) disable User account control if it's enabled.

Deleted the folder already...to no avail...then I disabled the UAC completely...and now it seems to install...man..I know why I am a console player... ;)

Haha, the irony is that later versions of Windows have tried to make it more 'accessible', yet it's probably created way more problems than it's solved. This would never have been a problem in XP.

Now let's just hope you can get past the dependencies issue that several people seem to be having.
