I put some comments on this in your other thread. Regarding your two 'universes' question, you have to have all the stars in a single map, i.e., it's not possible to swtich between maps. However, you could design 15x15 playing area with stars in the top five sectors and the bottom five sectors, and leave the middle five sectors free of stars. This would provide roughly what you want. You can also go above 1400 stars. As mentioned in the other post, you can certainly go as high as 3,400, but I have my doubts as to how well that 'universe' would run, particularly late game. You can place around 400 stars in a single sector (not that I'd recommend it), so you can cram in quite a lot of stars into a relatively small part of the playing area. It would be fairly easy to put 1,000 stars in a 2x5 sector space.
