Loving the game. A real time-vampire ;)

A genuine request – pictures of characters –expanding the default picture structure.

Can we please have it so that when we add custom pics of characters, it can also use the same pic category for a character type, e.g. Admirals, Leaders.

So, adding leader_0.png will use that pic for all leaders. Adding an admiral_0.png will use that pic for all further admirals. This way, we don’t get the same default race pic for every character, but a default character type pic.
Furthering on this, adding _1,_2,_3 etc will give us further custom characters for that type.

Also: female characters. Especially for mods and human races, we need a specific female pic and name pic mechanic added.

I wholeheartedly support this. I have put this idea forward before as well since I tried to make both female and male characters for my own Human Revolution mod at one point.

I love this idea... It certainly adds more character to the game (pun intended) having different looking characters...

Suggested the same thing, only handled in a different manner. It's definitely something that is missing and should be in the game. Making your own characters is a nice feature but there's no way to have them appear randomly with random skills and traits so it takes away from half the fun.

Hello Tilarium;
To make your characters appearances random, as well as their skills and traits, do the following:

A character stat line in the Character file looks like this example:

1, Ron Amison, 9, Captain_Fed_Captain.png, Federation, 31, ?, ?, ?, 36, ?, 37, ?, 63, ?, ?

To randomize the appearance order, replace the first number with a '?'.
To randomize skills and traits, place question marks (?) in place of any select numbers. Or, to
totally randomize all of the skills and traits use all question marks. An example below:

?, Ron Amison, 9, Captain_Fed_Captain.png, Federation, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?
